"So, this now brings me to something known as “The Peacock Effect”: dressing and enhancing ones appearance to attract the opposite sex. We are over-the-top, flamboyant, and unlike the male peacock whose feathers are real, we flaunt illusions and lies to attract the opposite sex.

Imagine meeting a girl who looked smoking hot in the dim lights of the club. Then you get her home. She takes out her fake hair, takes off her false lashes, unhooks her double-push-up bra that increases her bust by two cups sizes, and washes off her layered make-up until you’re left with someone completely different. They may still be attractive, but they are certainly are not the same person who you left with.

Could it be that peacocking to attract a mate has actually started to overshadow the act of sex itself? How many times have you heard a girl refuse a kiss, hug, or physical contact in the fear that her appearance will be “ruined”?

What is the point of making yourself “beautiful” if you aren’t even going to indulge in the resulting physical encounters? We want to look beautiful in the eyes of society, but are we willing to sacrifice a basic human need to do so?
