How can you be a Christian and support transgender? Doesn't that go against your whole thing of being a queerphobic religion? "Don't destroy your body as it is the temple of God" and shit?
well actually there are many denominations of Christianity. catholics, protestans, orthodox, baptists, etc, all have a few different beliefs some differences. for example Catholics and Orthodox believe we can pray to saints, like Mother Mary. other denominations don't believe we can do that. so the person's denomination can change whether they think being queer is a sin.
it also depends on the person's interpretation of the bible. there are many obvious clear messages in it, but there are also verses that many people argue about. for example, Leviticus 18:22, most conservative Christians think it's about homosexuality being a sin, while others like myself believe it's a mistranslation from the original hebrew bible. remember, the bible was originaly written in hebrew and it's translated to english, there are many minor mistranslations in it.
as for the "Don't destroy your body as it is the temple of God" part, i don’t think supporting transgender people goes against my faith. for me, Christianity is about compassion, honesty, and loving people, and lot of Christians interpret those verses differently. i don’t see being trans as 'destroying your body,' it's people trying to live truthfully and peacefully as themselves.
it doesn't matter whether you're hetero or homo, or cis or trans, God loves us the way we are!!
i hope this answers it well for you anon, sorry if this seems like bs its 12:30 AM rn lol
