Thanks to my inspiration Eugenia i got photographic evidence that I officially met the new #PeaceCorpsTrainees in the M31 (2016-2018) cohort. It was so great! They are troopers (one week in as of today and the folks we talked with are going strong). They were very kind to us as we delayed their lunch to talk about #PeerSupportNetwork. Hopefully the candy helped! (at ASEM - Academia de Studii Economice din Moldova)
#Bucuria is #Romanian for "joy." It's also the name of my favorite #Moldovan candy manufacturer. Considering that joy is an emotion, chocolate (in moderation) can be helpful to our health, and these candies are a way to share my love of a Moldovan mainstay with new arrivals, what better way to promote a support-oriented group than to staple chocolates to a handout! #PeerSupportNetwork is all set to meet the M31 #PeaceCorpsTrainees on Thursday and share in person how we are among the many resources they can utilize for support in their training and service.
From Chris Flowers: Rebecca and I had fun this afternoon preparing to share information on the Peace Corps committees with which we are involved with the newly arrived class of volunteers. These ribbons are attached to contact cards for the Volunteer Advisory Committee I'm a part of. Rebecca is preparing a much "sweeter" surprise when she talks about the Peer Support Network. #rcpc #Moldova #PeaceCorpsMoldova http://ift.tt/1VFJQd9
@pcm30dave and his #PartnerTeacher teaching an interesting & informative class on preventing colds & flus! They have fun activities and have kept the students very engaged around an important & practical topic. I realize now that I may have been teaching/working with the flu last week instead of a "bad cold." My continued apologies to all I may have infected! #PracticeSchool #PreServiceTraining #PeaceCorpsTrainees #M30 (at Budeşti)

My favorite part of #SchimbDeCultura was hearing the beautiful local songs and watching (and learning) local dances. Thank you #MilestiiMici! #PeaceCorpsMoldova #PCMoldova #PreServiceTraining #PeaceCorpsTrainees #CommunityOrganizationalDevelopment #COD #M30 (at Milesti Mici)
We spent time last week in Romanian class practicing introducing ourselves & the experience we bring to #PeaceCorpsMoldova in preparation for meeting our new colleagues. Thankfully, some M30s are up for having their introductions filmed & you can hear them online! Meet Dave, a colleague in Health Education who is from Los Angeles, CA. In a “wow! small world!” moment, we realized that we worked with the same English school in China, ten years apart! I worked at Aston English School in Jinan 2004-2006 and he worked in Xi’an 2014-2015 - we even know some of the same staff!

I guess it’s nice to use my masters degree in the field directly instead of focusing on how to transfer skills. For introductions, we transferred some ideas & language (for example, I combined my later work in residence life with my work in student activities and although my masters is formally in Community Health Promotion & Education we decided “master in education about public health” described it best).
