oh I have a question for those of you familiar with OpenOffice (though MS Word tips are good, too): I am keeping my thesis chapters in different files but I’m going to have to paste everything in a single file for the final upload and print. How do I keep the footnotes from adding up? I’d like to have them start anew for each chapter/part, because lbr chapter 2 alone has 316 footnotes, I don’t want the final count to risk being in the four digits. Is there a way to do it? or do I have to paste the pdfs together? But then that would mess up the page count?
