“Like I said, this has been exhausting for all of us, go close your eyes for a few minutes, grab a sonic shower and light meal, you’ve been on duty for…” Chakotay didn’t let his Captain finish, he knew she was just as tired and was just lucky enough to be running on an extra boost of adrenaline, or the extra cup of replicated coffee. “Aye, Captain” he nodded to her. As Chakotay walked over to the turbolift, his gate was just a little off, he wanted to adjust himself but he could sense Harry’s gaze and felt like if the Captain hadn’t already noticed the bulge in his pants, she certainly would if he attempted any adjustment now. Those uniforms were unforgiving, but he knew that, and he knew not to be thinking of Kathryn the way he did. Especially daydreaming on the bridge like that.

When the doors to his quiet quarters opened, he padded over to the replicator and ordered himself a hot cinnamon tea. He sat on his couch and stared out on the Alpha Quadrant stars. After a few sips and some contemplation on all the events of the last few days, he didn’t think he would be able to actually nap, so he opted for the sonic shower on hot water mode. He was still in the bathroom drying himself off, he heard his door to his quarters chime. Assuming it would be a former Maquis crew member, not trustworthy of Starfleet and their promises and that he would just need to reassure them that everything would be okay, Chakotay pulled on his grey Starfleet regulation boxer briefs and briskly rubbed the towel through his greying hair. As he paced to the door he reached back up with the bath towel made sure the water on his ears were dried off as well. Firmly wrapping the towel in place around his waist, Chakotay paused for a moment and then said “Enter”. Before he could tell the crewmember to have a seat, that he would throw on some clothes and be right with them, he registered that it was his Captain instead.

Kathryn quickly stepped in as the doors shut. She drank in his beautifully exposed body like he had never seen her do before, then again, how many times had she even seen him like this? After a few moments under Kathryn’s visual evaluation, Chakotay was just about to politely excuse himself and put on his fresh uniform when he felt her.

Physically felt her.

She was within inches of him, peering up into his dark eyes, she clearly had taken the initiative and closed the distance between each other. Not completely uncommon for them, but this was much closer than usual and typically he was clothed with more than just a large bath towel.

She looked longingly at her soon to be former first officer, “I hope you don’t mind me stopping by, but I can’t stand it any longer, I have tried to follow all the rules and fucking parameters set by Starfleet and myself. We are home Chakotay. Let’s be home together.”

Chakotay barely could register what was happening, what she was saying, he was in shock. Shock was a good way of explaining this right? Could this just be another daydream like the one he had on the bridge? Maybe he was still sitting on his couch, looking out onto the stars and daydreaming with his tea. To confirm, he took his hands and brushed them ever so softly up and down from her shoulder to the bottom of her elbow and then stopped on her biceps. He squeezed them a little, needing confirmation that she was real.

He closed his eyes tightly as to take a moment to thank the Spirits and reopened them, seeing *her* still there and with her eyes looking deeply into his and the intensity of their hearts beating a warp speed, Chakotay leaned down and captured Kathryn’s lips.
