Rex Whistler's illustrations for Edgar Allan Poe's Annabel Lee, in a hand-written anthology of favourite poems he put together with his friend Stephen Tennant while in his first year at the Slade. (The illustration on the left is inspired by Walter de la Mare's novel Henry Brocken, in which the title character meets various characters from literature.
