So, you happen to have your fair share of Bitcoins and are wondering just how you are going to spend it all. I suppose you could always wait and keep your fingers crossed that the rate would continue to rise for Bitcoin in tandem to your existing currency, but how about withdrawing it in cold, hard cash? That would mean hunting down a Bitcoin ATM which frankly, seems to be more rare to the layman than locating a rare Pokemon. PayMaq has just announced a new range of low-cost Bitcoin ATMs that will roll out in major European markets.

PayMaQ happens to pitch its PayBitcoin ATM in the form of it being a more affordable solution for individuals as well as small businesses who happen to have an interest in hosting a digital currency exchange point. A single unit would cost less than €1000 after VAT, shipping included, which will offer a retail cost savings in comparison to the $5,000 Lamassu units and $20,000 Robocoin machines.

European Bitcoin ATM Maker PayMaQ to Market €1,000 Models

A new line of low-cost bitcoin ATMs has been launched by PayMaQ in major European markets.

PayMaQ is pitching its PayBitcoin ATM as a more affordable solution for individuals and small businesses interested in hosting a digital currency exchange point. One unit costs just under €1000 after VAT and shipping, offering a retail cost savings when compared to $5,000 Lamassu units and $20,000 Robocoin machines.

The PayBitcoin ATM is PayMaQ’s second model, following in the footsteps of a first version that CEO Luis Borrell acknowledged suffered from limitations, including the need for skilled maintenance on a regular basis.

Bitcoin is trendy in Spain with 100+ ATM installations

Today, February 22, was the inauguration of the first Spanish bitcoin ATM in Diagonal Mar, a shopping center situated in one of the main avenues of Barcelona. With its installation comes 100 more ATMs over the next three months in the rest of Spain – a clear sign that interest in bitcoin, in this country, is settled.

This ATM, designed and operated by the Spanish companies Paymaq and Bbank respectively, starts the bitcoin fever that in the next three months will cover all the Spanish provinces with this service.

As we can see in other countries such as Canada, to buy or sell bitcoin in this machine it is necessary to identify in the system with your national ID card (an easy process that you can do with an integrated webcam).

#Bbank is the company that distributes the Bitcoin ATMs, and #PayMaQ the company that manufactures them in Spain. In Spain, there are not special laws for Bitcoin, so Bitcoin ATMs are regulated by the same laws as vending machines and you do not need a special permission to install them.

2 different versions: 1- users can only buy Bitcoin with cash in € using bill from 20 to 500€. 2- (still under development) users can buy and sell Bitcoin from the machine.

At the moment, this first Bitcoin ATM is the first version so only allows users to buy Bitcoin with cash in euros, but in the future it will be upgraded to version two to allow users to sell their Bitcoin too.

The first Bitcoin ATM is in Barcelona inside a mall called “Diagonal Mar”.

There are already plans to install at least other 100 Bitcoin ATMs in the next three months in Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona.
