“It’s fine,” he whispers to himself, running a hand through his hair. Anton is playing old One Direction as he moves around in the kitchen — Paul Baker can hear the click of the stove turning on, can hear the egg crack on a frying pan if he listens closely, searches for Anton under the sound of Harry Styles’s vocals. 

And he does. 

Search for him. 

He does. Always, maybe.

not in it YET because pb hasn't admitted to himself he likes anton in the first place lol

as is the rules, i wrote for five minutes

here's what i got

Maybe he’s just shy of being good. Arm stretched, palm open, fingers spread wide, and it’s still an inch out of reach. 

Because it feels a little too much. 

“God, man, I was an altar boy! Damn it, do I have no credit with you?” 

God doesn’t answer. 

Paul Baker wasn’t really expecting him to.

“Please, you think I only took five? No, and I had to get you laughing at the end. You’re kind of gorgeous when you laugh, Paul Baker,” he says lightly, a throwaway comment.

He smiles at him, a little shaky, and wishes he didn’t know what it felt like to kiss him, because maybe then he wouldn’t want to do it so badly right now.

the beginning is kind of angsty >:) it IS making it hard to find a voice for it, though, seeing as like. the show is not very angsty u know. but i'm doing my best :D

hi anon this is like 3 days late again: finals. but we're back and we're locked in

“I think that’s okay. It’s a first date, we’re going to get dinner at a little Italian place he recommended, it’s not supposed to be anything big at all.” 

“But it could be!” Issa insists. Anton waves his hands in exasperation. 

“Issa, it’s fine. Let the first date set the tone, I don’t want to go too fast, I’m still trying to break my dry spell, not shatter it.” 

Paul Baker snorts.

They’re faking it, they can all tell they’re doing this to keep the tightrope they’re standing on still, because none of them know what’ll happen when it wobbles and sends them all falling. 

Paul Baker’s scared shitless of heights. 

So nothing’s changed and everything’s different and it’s all fake except for the heat in his belly when he thinks back to his wedding.
