Multicoloured drawing ink with washing up liquid in a petri dish under the microscope. I think the bubbles look really interesting, kind of spaceship-like?

I have been using my line drawings of things under the microscope and my mirrored watercolour paintings to create this set of pattern designs.
I am going to apply these to different 'mock' products to see how they look :)
Playing about on Photoshop using the drawings and shapes I have been experimenting with in my sketchbook. I quite like the 'mirrored' effect in some of the Timorous Beasties designs so have taken inspiration from them.
More mixed media experimentation from my sketchbook, taking inspiration from some of the patterns and structures of cells and microscopic forms. Mixed media, ink, paint, pen and Posca pen.
I plan to create some interesting pattern designs by combining drawn elements with some of my microscope lens photography.
Further experimental photography through the lens of my microscope. I put a sample of crisps (ready salted) under the lens, which reulted in these interesting (and slightly offputting) images :) I think the grease from the samples made quite abstract and interesting patterns.

Some of my favourite images from my research using a microscope. This is permanent marker on acetate used as a mock-up slide, etched into with a scalpel. Magnified under the lens, I really like the light and shadow combinations in these images.
Some primary research for my project. I bought a microscope and have been experimenting with different specimens under the lens, playing with photographing the reults through the eyepiece. Here is human hair under the microscope.
Further research from my sketchbook. These image are photocopied from Giles Sparrow's book 'The natural world close-up.'
