Fuck backdoordisney. A major Disney tradition is preserving the magic and all the creatures in the cobwebs of the internet who support his actions only make things worse for CMs. Youāre not sticking it to Iger, or the man, or whomever. You ruin shit for hardworking people who are constantly underpaid and underrappreciated. And look what itās led to: Grand THEFT.
Imagine how much harder it is going to be now for CMs to get to and through work. Imagine how CMs walking through the utilidors will feel under the scrutiny of what Iām sure will be heightened security. Imagine how a dog-tired CM is going to feel having their personal bags even more thoroughly checked at the end of a shift.
As if the onstage pressures arenāt hard enough. If you want backstage knowledge of Disney so bad THEN GO WORK THERE. Itās a privilege to be have access to it, because itās a damn hard job. Work during a peak time like spring break, summer break, or winter break. Work when something new is announced and the park is full of journalists hounding you for information. Work when a major change is announced and know-it-all passholders are in your face telling you that youāre wrong.
Itās been almost 10 years since Iāve worked for Disney (at the haunted mansion, no less) and I have a career now, but I still maintain that working for Disney is the hardest job Iāve ever had.
You can blame Iger, or upper mgmt, or Waltās ghost himself for Disney parks losing its magic. But by supporting all this, you share the blame too. You have a hand in destroying the magic.
