Gilles Peterson & Patrick Forge // Radio 1 // 2000
I headed down to Camden this weekend for Another Sunday Afternoon at Dingwalls with Gilles Peterson and Patrick Forge. Floating Points was their special guest and he seemed right at home; Gilles and Patrick gazing indulgently at him like proud parents as he drew for their favourite obscure jazz records.
The incredibly talented Kaidi Tatham also performed with his all-star band, which included Vanessa Freeman, Bembe Segue and Finn Peters. I have a new-found respect for the man who's an absolute master on the keys.
These parties are the stuff of legend and I'm glad I finally got to experience one for myself. The crowd was lovely, the dancing was off the chain and the music impeccable. It's not every day you hear a jazz record get a rewind.
We fittingly ended here:
I totally didn't know until today...
