For the design & explore assignment, me, Isabel, Aviva, Nicole, and Catherine visited East Passyunk in Philadelphia. We decided to meet up at Green Eggs Café (http://greeneggscafe.com/), but to do so, we took the Broad Street Line (BSL) and headed south to Tasker-Morris to then walk over to the restaurant. Because I usually take the BSL to head south, it was convenient for me to take the subway by myself and then meet them there. Green Eggs Cafe serves both breakfast and lunch daily. We ordered our items and were served in a timely matter. I ordered the crème brulée french toast and it was absolutely delicious, though I ended up picking some up because I was so full!
After our brunch, we headed out to explore East Passyunk. Along our walk, we noticed a lot of retro typography signs and as well as modern ones. We also noticed how this area is more residential than tourist-like. There were a bunch of old yet beautiful tall townhouses in various colors, even pink! Most of the signs with interesting typography were either funeral homes or diners/bars. Our last stop for the day was Circle Thrift, which was really inexpensive and affordable. They have a second store in Fishtown where I have visited already. I found a couple of items for only $15! Now that’s a bargain. Overall, I enjoyed this small trip and had fun exploring the different designs that a section of Philadelphia carries!
