How the Hargreeves Children Respond To Anger
Luther, for the most part, is bad at hiding his feelings. He’s a good little soldier, following every order from his father with little hesitation. He idolizes him, wanting so badly to be loved that he feels like he needs to be perfect to deserve it. He would never dream of showing negative emotions towards him. With anyone else though, he can’t hide it. His anger comes off at first as strong irritation, but can easily build into violence. He often forgets his own strength, which is terribly dangerous for a man of his size (and with his powers).
Diego can feel the rage flowing through his veins, burning hot. He has to get it out, through throwing knives or punching something, someone; doesn’t matter. He channels all his energy into it. After the initial burn it simmers under his skin. He doesn’t hesitate to let sparks out in the form of harsh words towards anyone that gets in his path. He fumes for quite a while. He’s very good at holding a grudge.
Allison has a cruel way with words; it’s in her nature. She knows exactly what to say to hurt you the most. She has no problem landing a blow, but her anger is short lived. She cares too much. As soon as she crosses the line she regrets it, wishing she could have restrained herself. Her emotions are too strong for her, everything going too fast. She gets caught up in the whirlwind and goes too far, falling as soon as she sees the damage. Are her apologies enough? She means them with the utmost sincerity, but words spoken can’t be taken back. She only speaks the truth. Harsh, maybe, but true nonetheless. Truths that will linger at the back of your mind, haunting you. speaking of haunting you...
Klaus plays it off, just as he does any other emotion. He might throw a few more insults than usual but he laughs to hide his anger. When he lashes out, you know he’s been mad for far longer than he let on. It builds up and escapes when he feels too vulnerable. The outburst is loud and childish. He’s not one to strike a killing blow, just throwing meaningless words around. He doesn’t actually want to hurt anyone. Like Allison, his anger fades quickly, though the aftermath is far different. He fades into mourning and self-pity. He’s constantly acting and it’s exhausting. You can only keep a mask on for so long before it slips. By the time he’s gotten worked up enough to yell at you, he’s been thoroughly worn away. The mask falls off completely and you’re left with the heartbroken, damaged interior.
Five seethes with a hidden rage. His cruel smile doesn’t portray anything but hatred. He’s pissed and he doesn’t care who knows. You underestimated him, threatened him, hurt him... a stranger could never imagine that what seems to be an innocent young boy is actually a ruthless, jaded old man; the sheer terror one feels staring into his eyes, frozen like a deer in headlights. You’ve messed up. It’s all over. He’s merciless. The only thing you can pray for is a quick death.
Ben was never one to hide his emotions. He wears his heart on his sleeve, so you can tell when he’s frustrated. That’s where most of his anger comes from, frustration. Frustrated at the state he’s in, frustrated at the way his brother treats the life he wish he had, frustrated at his father... The man has a lot to be frustrated about. He never really blows up, due to the fact that he lets his emotions out when they come. He doesn’t bottle them up like his siblings. He’s calm and rational, but still pissed. He’s level-headed and will tell you exactly why he’s mad. He deals with his emotions in a very grownup way something his siblings could take note on
Vanya is the champion of pushing down her emotions. She tucks them away, aided by the drugs that suppress her powers. It takes a while for her to feel the acid bubbling up inside. If someone goes to far she spits it at them, letting out only a few drops of the rage she feels at her mistreatment. She lets people walk all over her, she can’t help it. She doesn’t believe that she deserves any better. When she finally learns her worth, she’s absolutely fatal. She explodes with a wrath, the likes of which no one would expect from sweet little Vanya.
