Z. Can you understand the mindset and logic used by the opposite spiritual opinion? An atheist understanding the belief in a higher power and vice versa.Â
I would say so. I am an atheist myself and I can definitely comprehend why religious people practice their respective religions. They need faith in their lives, they need the belief that after death their loved ones still exist, and they need to know there is a plan laid out for them. Or perhaps they grew up in a religious family and community and those religious ideals became ingrained in their minds over time. They cannot convert to another religion because they truly believe the religion they grew up with. It is the same with atheism. I grew up in an atheist family and I don’t think I could ever believe that God created the world in 7 days or that everything in the Qur’an is true. Of course there are multitudes of other reasons explaining one’s religious spirituality, but I cannot list them off the top of my head.
