Pariso. Potentially our Gran Canarian home as things take their twists and turns. It's our decision and we'll decide on Monday. #Pariso #grancanaria #RobDean #BillieOLeary (at Playa Dell' Ingles Gran Canaria)
Recent Purchases & Listening - 22nd May 2016
Recent Purchases Holy Roar’s warm up and 10th anniversary shows, at The Unicorn, and The Dome and Boston Music Room, respectively. I’ve never quite got over how stupidly good and formative the week of Pianos Become The Teeth shows I did back in 2011 were, predominantly because of discovering Kerouac, Pariso, and Holy Roar. I remember seeing Architects, Bring Me The Horizon, Parkway Drive, and The Devil Wears Prada the week after and wishing I was back in that tiny basement in Glasgow. That week has always been a point of reference for the scale of how good a live show is, and it’s something that hasn’t been touched in a long while. This weekend topped it and I can’t quite believe it. Almost every single band were inspiring to a point where I’m writing music again already. I put my music taste down to Topshelf and Pianos, but Holy Roar were so much more important influential than I realised. Long live. Recent Listening Modern Baseball - Holy Ghost (2016) I’ve seen and listened to MoBo in the past but it never really clicked for me as much as it did with others. That changed on the very first listen of Holy Ghost. You can read a more detailed review of the record here, but in short, the songwriting on display here is fucking wonderful. Varied but consistent and cohesive, and with a real human connection backing it all - I’m absolutely hooked. Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool (2016) Admittedly, I was pretty cold with my recent review of it. It’s taken me a week or so but it’s really sunk in now and I just ‘get it’. Sprawling, sporadic, and with very little in between a whisper and intense, this is definitely not an easy listen but when it clicks, it makes complete sense. B.W.

Palm Reader?????? // Mystifier (Pariso Cover)
My rogue silence It's not to be opened Failing friendships It's a wound that never heals Enduring, the sorrow Why so bleak? It's never over
I dunno who sings on this cover. I don’t even know if this cover was performed by Palm Reader. But like, I can’t find it anywhere else online save for this video, so...? Regardless, whoever is singing on this cover, they have a nice voice. I also like how it’s a piano cover of a hardcore song--which I feel probably happens a lot, but never this well.
