Hello, I noticed you had emergency request open... could I have a request with how Lance would react/help his s/o who constantly feels like a failure and that they are never going to amount to anything, so everything they do is really hard for them because they don't see a point.. if your not comfortable with this request that's absolutely okay. Thank you
I FEEL YOU. If you ever want to talk, my ask box (and messaging) is always open. I may not know your exact situation, but I do know what itâs like to feel like a failure and I certainly know a thing or two about self-hatred. Â You actually sent this at the perfect time because Iâm hella down in the dumps and I was gonna write something sort of like this, but now I get to write it and help a friend out so it is a win-win!!!
You smiled on the outside, but inside you were withering. You werenât as smart as Pidge, and your brain constantly told you that you would never be. You were also not as graceful or beautiful as Allura, or as good of a fighter as Keith. You couldnât cook for shit and you definitely couldnât pilot that well either. You waved goodbye to your âfriendsâ. They didnât actually care about you. They pitied you at most. You waved and walked to your room, falling apart as soon as the door shut behind you. You knew you were crying, but you tried to not acknowledge it. You sat down on your unmade bed, I canât even clean up after myself⊠How hopeless. You thought, throwing off your shoes and burying yourself under the covers,  lying face down and crying freely into your bed. You couldnât pilot much so you were stuck in the castle while the paladins went out on a mission. You were supposed to give them coordinates, but you misread them and managed to mess everything up. The paladins had tried to tell you that it was an easy mistake and they didnât blame you, but you doubted they were being honest. You reached under your mattress to pull out your journal. You write in it what went wrong today, and look back on all of your past failures, only making your mood fall even more. âWhat is wrong with me?â you cry out, digging your hands through your hair desperately.
âY/N? Whatâs going on?â you heard a very familiar voice on the other side of your door.
âGo away, Lance, everythingâs fine!â you shouted at him, your cracking voice proving that everything was not fine.
âIâm coming in,â and like that, your door was opened and Lance made his way towards your bed, plopping down next to you and rubbing your back. âAre you⊠crying?â
âNo,â you said weakly, hiding the journal under your pillow.
âWhatâs up, babe?â he asked, bending down to try to get a look at your face.
âJust leave me be, Iâm sure you have something more important to do,â you nuzzle your head further into the mattress.
âIs this about the mission? It really wasnât your fault!â Lance gently grabbed your waist and pulled you up from your position so he could look you in your tear-filled eyes.
âItâs not just this mission itâs everything. I canât do anything around here and honestly, you guys should shove me out into space,â you covered your face with your hands.
âY/N, what are you talking about? Youâre amazing. You are so helpful around the castle and everyone really loves having you here. Everyone makes mistakes, but that doesnât make you a mistake,â Lance pressed you against his chest, wrapping his arms around you in a tight embrace. âI know what it feels like to think youâre a failure. To be honest, I kind of feel like the extra wheel around hereâŠâ he nestled his face into your neck, pulling you a bit tighter.
âWait what? But youâre the sharpshooter! The team needs you!â you exclaimed.
Lance chuckled, âThatâs ironic. I feel like someone just said that youâŠâ
       âThatâs differentâŠâ you mumbled.
âHow so?â Lance pulled back to see your face.
       You shrugged, not looking up.
He pulled your chin up, getting you to hold his gaze, âItâs the same principle here. Youâre so important to me and definitely to the team.â
âI donât feel like that. I feel like everyone just pities me, no one actually likes me.â
âThat is NOT true. Everyone loves you here! Especially me,â Lance wiped your tears with his thumb. âHow about this, until you learn to love yourself, Iâll love you enough for the both of us,â Lance gave you a kiss before bringing your head back to his chest and he placed his head on yours, whispering sweet reassurances.
