Oh Agnes You Do Love Me
So, according to AscAgnes, our lovely class, schedules, financial stuffs website, I have been approved of all the necessary funds (thousands of dollars in DEBT) to go back to Agnes Scott College for my junior year.
It is official (and has been since my financial aid fight for sophomore year) absolutely NO ONE can tell me that our president Barack Obama didn't help a girl out. Now I know he didn't change the Parent PLUS Loans from private to federal loans for curvy ol' me BUT these changes have and are saving my life (and my access to a higher and private education mind you).
It's great to see how one small change in legislation can help some (but not all) minority students attend a private institution or stay in one. Personally, this has enabled me to keep experiencing the out of state college experience as well. It is important for the less financially privileged to be on the same playing ground as those with golden spoons in their mouth. It seems we've just moved just one baby step forward.
Now NO way in hell am I saying that minorities and upper class students have the same ladders to climb to the same educational opportunities. I know for a fact that my ladder is twice is long as an upper class student and shorter than someone who has less money then my family. BUT what I am saying is that it just got a little bit easier. This is coming from a person who was denied over 15 times in one month from private lenders to being approved for two years in a row from the government itself.
The catch to this wonderful change is that your parents still have to have a decent credit score BUT it doesn't have to be as high as the private lenders wanted it to be. STILL I'm looking for more changes because one baby step was enough for me but not enough for everyone.
