Painting with Toddlers: PREDICTING THE DISASTER
Today I went to Target and bought canvases, paint, awesome paintbrushes, paper and a sixer of Red Bull.
I had an idea after reading a mommy blog about summer activities. This one: paint outside with a toddler! (Ha. Hahahaha.)
I bought the supplies and I texted my friend Jackie to bring over her 18 month old and 2 and a half year old. (Sadie is 22 months.) We have an art play date! Look at me, crafty!
Immediately after coming home, I began thinking about all the terrible things that can go wrong.
1) Sadie hates the idea and immediately takes to her pool, eschewing the arts forever, becoming a baby Philistine. She’ll never know the joy of a Picasso because I forced art on her too soon.
2) Sadie throws paint at her new friends and blinds both of them. (Upside: we sue Crayola and make bucketsssss!)
3) The children paint my father’s car.
4) The children paint me.
5) I take a picture of the children painting shirtless and Instagram flags my account. Bastards!
These are just a few things that have crossed my mind. I’ll have an update tomorrow. If I can still see by then.
