In fact, I would argue that Christianity isnāt in trouble at all. Churches are in trouble. Denominations are in trouble. Religious institutions like seminaries are in trouble. Professional church leaders are in trouble.
5 Ways Churches Inflicted Pain on Themselves
People arguing that the parachurch should not exist and is not the Church when they defend that with the english definition of church - institution- rather than the New Testament definition of it: God's people, the ekklesia.Ā
GEEZE -_-
The parachurch is not a ministry from an institutional church so it is not a church, but it is part of the Church - capitalization means 2 different things when writing the word church. church means a building, an institution while the Church means all of God's people, past, present and future. It spans time and place and is everywhere, while a church (local) can only exist in the present and be in one place.
NT definitions versus english definitions dismantling your entire argument.
2 different types of parachurch organisations
There are parachurch organisations that are like feeding people with Macdonalds when they could be eating at home. No problem with the food at home, but Macdonalds will always make you feel freer, more in touch, and certainly more convenient.
But there are parachurch organisations that feed people like an IV drip. You eat there because you have to and you can't quite get normal food. But the moment you can, you get off it. Or at least, you work your way there.
What do you think?
What is and isn't a Church?
What is and isnāt aĀ Church?
What makes the local visible church distinct, recognizable or different from say a para-church institution? In other words what are the marks of the local church? What is and isnāt a church? (moreā¦)

Pitfalls of Parachurch - Feeding on Christ
Here is an excerpt:

This short post from Walt Chantry entitled, āMissionaries Should be āImmersedā in Churchā, begins:
As the Lord Jesus understood His earthly mission, His church was on His heart. āChrist loved the church and gave Himself up for herā (Ephesians 5:25). Our Saviorās ministry cannot be adequately described without mention of His church. āFrom heaven He came and sought her to be His holy bride; with His own blood He bought her, and for her life He diedā (Samuel J. Stone). Our holy Lord pledged, āI will build My churchā (Matthew 16:18) through the apostolic witness to Himself.
All missionaries should be sons from the womb of the church sent as messengers of the church to establish and strengthen the church. Evangelism of an individual has not been effectively completed until he is integrated into the life of the church. Missionaries then must be familiar with and appreciative of the worship of the church, the fellowship of the church, the doctrine of the church, and the government of the church.

The inner city doesn't need more churches. It needs a church. A body. A people serving and working together as one family. Christ's body. We don't need a bunch of renegade folks moving in and starting post-modern church plants that are disconnected with the existing neighborhood congregations and the larger body of Christ. We don't need folks to be sloppily calling everyone an elder or pastor without any accountability outside of themselves. That's the stuff cults are made of. We don't baptize people in our bathtubs. We connect them to the local parish or the local congregation. We aren't para-church. We are pro-church.
