It’s high time I actually start posting the foundations of my AU, so I thought I’d start with my interpretation of the Slendermansion. I hope you enjoy!
PARA-ARCHIVES
LOG 1 - CONIFER DOWN
Deep in the Pacific Northwest, there's a town. One not marked on any map. Shrouded in evergreen and fog, with timber cladding, flaking paint and dirt roads. The rusting sign tells you you're entering Conifer Down. It's old, yet nobody seems to know it—not the locals, nor the law. Stumbling across it is unusual, but if you do, it's easy to understand why.
There's something wrong with the residents.
Something deeply, yet indecipherably, wrong. They greet you with odd stares and careful words, but it's not their behaviour that creeps you out the most. Some wear masks, while some look like they should, and a rare few seem to have contracted a rare, undiscovered disease, as their left eye is in a perpetual state of severe infection. Most own the little shops dotted around, but for some of them you can never pinpoint their occupation.
From the friendlier of the bunch, you learn that the town is owned by the man in the manor—Conifer Manor, specifically—a mansion upon the peak of the hill, one of dark timber and moss-ridden shingles. The architecture is questionable, with rooms jutting out at all angles and levels towering to the sky. Sometimes, you think this town is driving you crazy, as you swear you'll wake up in the morning and notice a new—only in presence, not in quality—room mashed onto it like an afterthought.
The longer you stay, the more you wonder why you do. But there's something about this place that pulls you in. That wants to reclaim you. Skin from muscle, muscle from bone, until it weaves its roots so tight around your ribcage that you don't know yourself from the land. It terrifies you, because deep down, you know you aren't ever leaving.
LOCATIONS
Apart from the few residential buildings—most of which are empty—these are the few locations of note. Strangely, there's no school, despite the fact you swear you see children running around at night.
CONIFER MANOR - Home to the Man, the infected townsfolk and a few key others. You'll never see the inside, so don't ask. Seems to have a graveyard out back… quite a big one, at that.
SHERIFF'S OFFICE - A tiny building with only one cell that's always empty. Run by the sheriff, Mickey, and the only other officer, Harvey. Since when does the law have to wear masks?
SMILIE CLINIC - Owned by the general practitioner, Gabriel Evan Smilie; however, the residents refer to him simply as The Doctor. Staffed there are a surgeon, Dr Nyras, and a single nurse, Ann.
SMILIE PHARMACY - Also owned by The Doctor; however, only the virologist—as he calls himself—Liam can be found there. Everything on the shelves is labelled only by its function. No brands.
CONIFER MORGUE - Despite the limited number of residents, the morgue's chimney always seems to be puffing smoke… Nobody particularly seems to run this place, but one of the infected townsfolk, Lexi, is often here.
SPARROW BEAK INN - A humble inn by day, a drinking hole by night. It's a weird place—residents drink themselves into an early grave every night, yet seem fine the next day. Run by a nice, but often sad-looking, woman named Jane.
CONIFER GROCER - The only place you can buy the essentials, besides the gas station. Selection is pretty slim, but the owner—Samuel—explains that it's because the exports take ages to come through. Weird.
CONIFER GAS - The single gas station in the entire town that doubles as a merch stand, although the shelves are pretty barren in that regard. Sits on the outskirts, just by the town sign. Staffed by a man named Benjamin who never looks up from his PSP.
THE CHURCH - A small church that is mostly barren apart from a troubled woman, Dina, and the town's pastor, Father Liu. He somehow seems even more troubled than his helper.
CONIFER AUTOMOBILES - Despite its name, no cars are sold here. But they are certainly fixed there—at least, the only two that you've ever seen in town. It's run by a scaldingly sarcastic woman named Nat.
PINE CONE FARM - The grocer's owner, Samuel, lives here. It's the sole producer of all of Conifer's fresh goods. When not at the morgue, Lexi can often be found here.
LUMBER YARD - Presumably how this place makes its income—if there was ever anybody there. Trucks of timber litter the yard, yet never go anywhere. It always reeks of blood here. Weird.
