i don’t think anyone really takes into consideration how genuinely overwhelmed ben must be trying to turn everything off.

him being constantly in tune with every piece of technology in a single second was so hard to turn off and on for the longest time, and it made him so agitated and nonverbal, it’s was like constant static and muffled voices in his head. he felt borderline schizophrenic, it drove him nuts. he’d have terrible outbursts at anyone who tried to speak with him while he’d be in the process of trying to turn it all off.

with the power to see through any screen in the world possible, he’d have nightmares about people he didn’t even know, or places he’s never been. even when trying to sleep, it took over, and the outcome of such was horrible insomnia.

having access to any form of media possible, anything written on websites, anything spoken on calls or videos online, it took him forever to gain full control of when, where, why, how…what.

however, once he did, he came around more. he stopped getting angry at everyone out of nowhere, his trembling and glitching diminished exponentially. he became approachable for once. he was more calm, aloof, tame for the most part, although he still has moments where it did become overwhelming again, not being able to focus on anything else but every screen in a room. he’d have to step away at times, lock himself in his room where the certainties of his own screens he’d find solace.

his discovery of weed helped a lot, actually.

but during this time, he truly found himself. he molded his own personality, boundaries, likes and dislikes. he came ben, instead of an entity who’s sole purpose was to stay trapped. literally, and metaphorically.

however…don’t underestimate his control of the abilities this far into it.
