It was safe to say that Sebastian Smythe never expected to end up back here, sat at a counter with a barely tolerable attempt at a cocktail in hand, and his phone in the other. Ten years ago, heād left the second he received his diploma, and heād never had one single, miniscule want to come back. Heād built a life for himself in New York. He was a reputable defense attorney with an extremely high win-to-loss percentage, heād worked with some big names in the entertainment industry, he owned penthouse apartment in Manhattan with a perfect view of the city, and most importantly of all, there was an upscale gay bar just a five minute walk away. He was living every bachelorās dream.
Everything changed when one day, his personal assistant came knocking on his door with a letter in hand that possessed an emblem he never thought heād see again. A red, intricateĀ āDā in the top left corner, and an Ohio zipcode next to the return address. Heād almost thrown it away. Left that chapter of his life behind once and for all, but he couldnāt bring himself to do so. A week later, he was on a plane back to Westerville with a suitcase of clothes and other essentials, and another full of case files he needed to review for an impending trial. Heād considered staying with his dad, but he hadnāt gotten much more tolerable over the years, so instead Sebastian decided to reserve a room at the same hotel the reunion was being held at for the month. Thatās how he ended up here, at a hotel bar with some painfully Heterosexual men around, watching a football game that Sebastian was only really half paying attention to.
