Capture the Light

“hopefully after this day i’ve had there’s something really good coming for me around the corner.”  linney nodded, chuckling at the thought.  but, truthfully, she wished that this would help her writer’s block.  “i can imagine.  it must have been something to see.  i’m sure the pictures came great too, they’ll probably be super appreciative of it.”

“i’m sure it’ll happen.” he nodded. “lets do something to make your day better.” he suggested, raising an eyebrow. “oh god I hope so. i’m gonna edit some of them tonight and send a couple to them.”

a smile made its’ way to willows face as she moved the way the male had suggested, head turning to face him, smile still intact “let me know if you need me to move anywhere else.” she spoke.

he watched her move. her smile making him smile. it seemed like it was contagious. “nope, you’re good. right there.” he said, pulling his camera up to his face. “have you done this before?” he spoke behind the camera.

“Four hundred? Jesus Christ. Did they buy the whole store or somethin’?”

“I work at a steakhouse. Pretty high end. Or well, depending on what people get.” He said, shrugging. 

Tayler laughs as he struck the captain Morgan pose and looks at Jack “How’s it look,bro?”

Jack shook his head at the pose and smiled. Taking a few pictures, he nodded. “You look like the true captain morgan.” He said, “I think your foot was in the correct position. I could even edit you on a bottle.” He suggested.

While she was pretty sure Jack would decline money, Sophia still wanted to thank him in a little way and if it meant coffee then she was happy to do that. She raised her eyebrows at the first word before smiling when he agreed to it. “I mean I was just going to buy you a cup but if you want to grab coffee together that’s fine too.” she joked slightly needing a cup of it herself.

His eyes widened. “Oh, yeah, that’s fine too.” He said, waving his hand. “Also, come look at this. I think the lighting is great. But I can take some more. I like having a diverse amount of headshots for people.”

“Okay you were right about that.” She added. “Thank you, I try. It helps when you look this good.” 

He laughed. “Of course. I mean, if I ever need a model again, I’ll definitely call you.”

“She needed a new coat of paint on the outside and a couple tweaks to the sails and other stuff, but the majority of the work is going to be inside. It’s so outdated, needs a new kitchenette, bed was so gross I tore it out, currently rocking the air mattress life and the wood paneling has been a pain to get up. Then there’s the table I want to redo along with the seating area, basically it’s a mess.”

Nodding, Jack listened. He had always seen movies and tv shows about people remodeling different things. Buses, boats, those small little tiny trailers. “If you need any help, let me know. Sounds like fun, remodeling and such.” 

Nodding Anna couldn’t help but agree as she took another handful of nachos. “Okay, I see your Ratatouille and raise you Tiana’s gumbo and beniges.” She raised her eyebrows at him as she threw a nacho in her mouth.

“What about krabby patties?” He asked tilting his head, as the movie started. He grabbed a nacho. “I’d love to eat a krabby patty.”

“Oooh, I can’t wait to see them!” She giggled as she walked over to him. She hadn’t planned on doing any photo shoots today, but when he offered, she just couldn’t say no! Besides, they would be perfect for Instagram.

He pulled back and clicked the button to bring up the pictures. “I like this one a lot.” He said, pulling up one of them, her smile radiant through the camera. 

they walked around to look at the photographs — there was no doubt about it. “ wow, you’re really good! ”  they said.  “ sorry, that sounded kinda condescending… really, though. ”  their mouth was slightly parted as they looked over the photographs. it was one thing to take a picture, or take a video. any idiot with a camera or a phone could do that. but these showed serious talent.  “ how long have you been doing this for? ” 

jack let out a laugh. “no, don’t worry about it.” he waved it off. “but thanks.” he scrolled through the different pictures, all ranging in different various heights. “like five or six years. but I just do it for fun.” he shrugged.

His camera lens was fixated on the butterfly resting on a flower, index finger ready to press the shutter button until a voice from behind startled him. The initial shock caused him to quiver, the sudden motion alarming the subject of his photo to fly away. “Dude, what the fuck? You just costed me a shot.” Dark brown eyes darted to peer over his shoulder, visibly irritated by the sight of another photographer. Who wanted Ezra to be their model for the cost of losing his. How selfish. “Oh, I see how it is. The lengths you go to spite someone for getting a better subject, hm?”

Jack didn’t realized that the butterfly would fly away, especially because he tried to be quiet about the entire exchange. “Shit man. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you. I just--” He really wasn’t even sure what to say. “Thought getting another photographer in action would be really cool. For like, a website, or something.” He wasn’t even an actual photographer, he just did it for fun.

Noelle stared at Jack for a moment just blinking before her hand went to cover her mouth. “Oh dear god…” Reaching into her purse, Noelle started digging frantically for her phone. “That is something she would do actually. Once a pageant mom always a momager. Fuck, where is my phone?”

Jack laughed at her reaction. “Pageant mom? Wow. Yeah, be careful.” He watched her frantically search. “Is it in your pocket? Don’t people usually put it in their back pockets or something?”

❝ um, ❞ kam turns his gaze towards jack & arches a brow as if silently formulating a question inside his head, soon enough crossing his arms on his chest. ❝ don’t make me sound so desperate. & i’m not even talking that much !! all of you are so rude, ❞ he mumbles with a pout on his lips while approaching the other to stare down at the camera’s screen. ❝ wow. this is really good. here i thought you were just a creep… ah !! how much do you charge for your services when you’re not creeping on others ?! ❞

he pretended not to take offense to the ‘all of you’ because he really didn’t consider himself to be ‘one of those rude photographers’, but he snapped the pictures, making sure he got the correct angle. after he was done, he pulled up one of the pictures. jack cracked a smile. “this is nothing. this is just a fun thing I do. if you wanted an actual photoshoot, then I’d charge.”
