Comet PanSTARRS & Helix Nebula by Fritz Helmut Hemmerich
This is Comet PanSTARRS! 🌠🌠🌠
This gif was created throughout the night of July 25th and you can see the potentially interstellar comet in motion.
Taken by me (Michelle Park) using the Slooh Canary One telescope on July 25th, 2022.
Rocky Comet
Comet C/2017 K2 PanSTARRS
The Comet was first spotted 5 years ago in 2017, between Uranus and Saturn, it makes it's closest approach to Earth on July 14th.
It's thought to be an Oort cloud comet, and will come within 1.4 AU of Earth (1 AU = the distance between the Earth and Sun on average).
Just behind the comet is the open cluster IC 4665, 1,400 light years away from Earth.
The bright star in the corner of the lead image is the star Beta Ophiuchi sometimes called Cebalrai.
It's located 81.8 light years from Earth, and is a K2 III K type Orange giant, located on the HR diagram along the III Giants in the orange area.
Although no planets have been confirmed, a candidate Jupiter sized planet possibly orbits every 142 days at around .6 AU from the star.

Moon, Venus and Comet PanSTARRS
AM 0619-271 by Judy Schmidt Via Flickr: A magnificent barred spiral galaxy with arms tightly wound into near continuous circles. This was colorized using PanSTARRS z/i/g survey data. I processed the center somewhat heavily to make the lines of dust more apparent.
