my wallet is safe, because i never use it for its intended purpose hahaha (though those pictures of gerard way aren’t going to cart themselves around...). however, the way it works where i live is that you need to actually use the physical card with an id card reader to sign in to the system that deals with uni applications!

the last thing i learned about in school that i’m really interested in is michael thonet and his bentwood furniture. his technique of steaming and bending wood rods (solid beech at first and then later would use laminated woods) to create lightweight and sturdy furniture created iconic designs that have been called “the chair of chairs” and have been praised by designers and architects since their inception. he won first prize at the world’s fair for his most famous chair, chair number 14 ( “chair of chairs”, “vienna cafe chair” etc) designed in 1859. it could be disassembled into flat parts for shipping, and he could ship an entire order of chairs for a cafe in the smallest possible packaging, much like ikea today
