Why do I have the feeling Zacian and Zamazenta are another evolving legend duo?
When they first appeared on screen, my first thought was that it was the same Pokémon, just in different forms. They both have super similar coloring, with only Zamazenta’s colors being darker shades. Otherwise, they’re both red, blue, white and gold, and that struck me as.... atypical.
I know Cosmog’s gimmick has already been done, but it just seems strange that they look so similar.
It’s not just that they’re based on the same creature: 2 of the previous gens had legendaries that were both dragons. But these two look so similar that it actually surprised me that hey had different names.
Additionally, their names stand out. In both Japanese and English (English legendary names are almost always romanizations of the Japanese names), they start the same, so this makes me even more curious. Why else would they make the legendary Pokémon so similar to each other if they weren’t related earlier down the line?
Now, I’m not saying this scenario will be the exact same as Cosmog and the SuMo pair, but since they’ve introduced the concept, I’m sure that Gamefreak will want to experiment with it further. Perhaps we encounter this earlier evolution in the wild during a story segment and capture it as our own, allowing us to raise it instead of just watching it grow with another character?
I dunno, I’m just spitballing here. I could be completely wrong, and I know how absurd it is to make theories about Pokémon since they almost always defy expectations, but I’ve been thinking about these two Pokémon all day, so I wanted to get this out here. Thanks for coming to my TED talk
