11. If you could only write angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your life, which would it be?
This is a shitty question because no fic is ever pure fluff or pure angst (pure smut on the other hand, sure). Iâd never pick smut anyway. Imo the best fluff and best angst fics have some of the other in it as well - itâs not very effective storytelling otherwise? If everything is just angst all the time, the angst doesnât hit as hard, and vice versa. so with that in mind....Iâd probably go with fluff. Because thereâd always be angst anyway, and (atm anyway) Iâd prefer my starting point to be from the point of fluff than from the point of angst.
13. Is there a trope you wouldnât write if it was the last trope on earth?
A/B/O. you couldnât pay me to write this.
21. What is the one fic that got away?
As in a wip I started and never finished? Hmm. Many years ago I wanted to write a fic in which JARVIS wanted to be human, and Tony worked to make it happen - a bit like in that Robin Williams movie. I did start it, but it never went anywhere, and then in the MCU JARVIS turned into the Vision (well, sort of) and I just gave up on it altogether.Â
Ngl though, my first thought when I saw this question was a fic I wrote for a prompt-claim fest some years back, and the prompter treated the fic as if Iâd written the fic for them, personally, as a gift. Iâm still salty about it and it rather soured me off prompt-claim fests. If I didnât explicitly write it for you, even if I used a prompt you created, it is not for you, and it is not yours, and you do not get to claim any kind of ownership over it. I donât care if that pisses people off. Itâs not yours. Itâs mine. (This is incidentally part of the reason why I like gift exchange fests - for those I am actually creating something for another person and it doesnât matter who else likes it or doesnât like it, so long as my recipient likes it.)
23. If you had to remix one of your own fics, which would it be and how would you remix it?
Iâve never considered this actually. Usually, when I finish writing a fic Iâm done with it and donât really feel like revisiting it in any form. One thing I sometimes think about is Astoria and Ruby in the vegas fic, and how Iâd love to write (or just read, tbh) their story of getting together and emotional journeys etc. Especially from Astoriaâs point of view because the thing about her in that fic is that she presents a very bubbly and carefree front, but in reality sheâs struggling a lot with expectations and pressure and figuring out what she really wants. I didnât give her a lot of page time because itâs a H/D fic, but I wanted to at least give the impression that she was more than a plot device and I came to really care about her as a character in the process. Ruby is an OC (and is really just a plot device), however, so I think even if I did it wouldnât be well received in fandom as there seems to be general hostility towards character/OC fics in HP fandom. so Iâve sometimes thought about taking that basic premise and writing an original f/f novel or novella about them instead and fleshing Ruby out more as well. Donât know if I ever will, though.Â
