Once the Sun Rose From a Different Direction, paint chips on paper, 10 x 10 in.
Thanks for reading.
Hold Me (ITH)
an anon requested “Hold Me.” as a prompt for Sonny and Pete. I was gonna do angst and then I thought otherwise. Enjoy!
“Hold me?” Sonny asked, tugging on Pete’s hoodie. Pete gave a flicker of a smile, amusement twinkling in his eyes.
“If we get caught, your cousin will skin me.” Pete shed his backpack, and then his sneakers. He began to crawl onto Sonny’s bed, pressing their foreheads together.
“We won’t get caught.” Sonny promised.
“I really like my skin on my body. Do you like the idea of Usnavi killing me?” Pete slipped under the blanket and wrapped his arms around Sonny.
“I can’t kiss you if you keep bringing up Usnavi.” Sonny pressed his lips to Pete’s and then to his cheek and then his neck.
“What if he’s like magical and can be summoned by the amount of times we call him?” Pete asked, his calloused hands running up Sonny’s side. Sonny shivered at the touch.
“You’re ridiculous.”
“You love it.”
“Of course I do.” Sonny gasped when Pete nipped at his ear and turned bright red.
Then his door knob began to turn.
“Get down!” Sonny hissed, and Pete yanked the covers over his head.
“Hey,” Usnavi poked his head in. “You haven’t really left your room all day. I just came to check on you.” He smiled and stepped into the room.
“Oh! ‘m fine! Great! Yup…” Sonny cleared his throat. “Did you want something?”
Usnavi broke out into a shit eating grin. “Ah, yeah. I cut you up some strawberries.”
He glanced at the backpack and stepped over it, before placing the bowl of strawberries on the nightstand.
“Bring your laundry down when you come down for dinner.” Usnavi started for the door and paused when his hand touched the knob. “Oh, also, it looks like you grew two extra feet. We should really get that checked out, primo.” And with a snort, he shut the door behind him.
Sonny, with wide eyes, slowly turned to the foot of the bed to see not only his yellow socks poking out from under the blankets but also Pete’s mitch-matched red and blue socks sticking out as well.
“Ah shit!” Sonny flopped back.
“How dead are we?” Pete poked his head out from under the blanket.
“Super dead.” Sonny laughed but took the time before his own death to wrap his arms around Pete and lay there for a few more hours.
I'm suddenly overwhelmed with a sense of sadness
This is paintchips, one of my favorite songs I've ever written
