did any other aroaces use to fantasize about living on a planet where everyone was related and babies fell from the sky to be raised by their siblings with whom they had an immortal soul-bond or was that just me as a child

back when we lived in beijing the rents would take us to a fellow ofw's apartment to practice chinese and we'd read this cute kids book with a yellow hippo in it. i only remember the words "hippo" and "soap", and so far, not much luck finding the book online.

never been more glad to be processing bullshit and reparenting at the same time there happens to be so many good works out exploring trauma and abuse through the framework of children's media. best of both worlds rlly... you get the cute innocent aesthetic AND a nuanced depiction of the reality you live in (and the one you lived in as a child)

man i forgot how existential touch-and-feel books used to make me... as a little kid i used to ruminate w my limited vocabulary and general life experience over my assumption that the fur in the book was ripped from the body of a dead animal
