Aly looked pretty good. Still not a fan of her layout on beam, but I’d much rather see her have that much extra power on her vault than too little. She’s got months to trials, I think she’s got enough time to figure out a happy medium.

Laurie is really making her case here. Her lowest score was 14.8, and she went between 14.8 and 15.25 on everything. She and Aly were within .1 in the all around. She’s usable everywhere, and I really feel like that’s critical this year--being able to step up anywhere, just in case.

Which is, of course, Ashton’s greatest weakness. As long as everyone’s healthy, taking her just for bars would be great, but last minute injuries that really limit athletes happen at the Olympics, and after Morgan White they really don’t want to have to bring in an alternate. But her bars are so very gorgeous.

Ragan probably did herself the least amount of good. She hit four-for-four, but her scores on all the events are replacible. She’s got her work cut out for her this summer.

And Brenna. Wow. Brenna surprised me, and in the best possible way. Her new bar routine is considerably less exciting, but she hit it cold. She also had solid vaults and floor, and hit beam. I really didn’t think she was on the radar for this year, but maybe... Is she still training the amanar?
