my immediate joke answer is ‘mail courier’ but putting my Serious Hat On, a job that involves some form of auditing/independent investigation; not investigative journalism though, I think the environment that suits her values/goals/priorities would have to be a civil position of some sort where she is able to directly contribute to investigations and participate in field work while also pushing for internal policy shifts and making sure internal affairs are Adhering To Standards Of Best Practice. kind of like whatever equivalent of inspector general there is in japan, but obviously I don’t know much about the actual work inspector generals do or what type of independent investigation committees exist in japan. I imagine makoto to be extremely unpopular but begrudgingly respected because of how thorough and rigid she is.
