Wake up. Clothes on. One shirt. Two arms. One pants. Two legs. One foot, one shoe. Two feet, two shoes.  

Find brother.

Brother’s asleep. Wake brother up. Help brother get dressed, he’s too little to do so on his own. Play with brother before breakfast. Have fun. Not too much fun. Too much fun is forbidden. Too much fun breaks things and causes mummy and daddy to get angry. Especially mummy. She doesn’t like when too much fun is had. Everything is to keep mummy happy.

Go downstairs. Eat breakfast that Kreacher cooked. Eggs and toast. Don’t like eggs. Eat them anyway. Don’t want mummy to get mad. Everything is so mummy doesn’t get mad. Finish breakfast. Want to play but can’t play because mummy found the lamp. The lamp that broke the day before. Mummy isn’t happy.

Punished. 

Only five lashes this time. Five because that is how many years Sirius has been alive. One for each. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. 

Punishment is over. Still no playing. Cried too much. Always crying. Need to stop. Stopping is required. Mummy doesn’t like crying. Mummy makes it worse when she hears crying. Daddy punishes because daddy doesn’t like to see mummy upset. Everything is so mummy doesn’t get upset.

Time out. Sneak out to see brother. Brother is sad because he isn’t supposed to play with his older brother. He does anyway. Older brother knows best. Older brother doesn’t know how to keep mummy happy all the time so he stopped trying. 

Have fun. Ride toy broom. Little brother needs to learn how. Older brother teaches well. He has great patience. Younger brother crashes the broom. Mummy isn’t going to be happy. 

Daddy’s turn to punish.

Five slaps. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. They hurt but not as much as the lashes. Older brother is glad he isn’t lashed. No belts. Daddy is easier. He just wanted to make mummy happy. No crying. Can’t cry. Can’t show weakness otherwise mummy will be mad. Don’t want to make mummy mad. Everything is so that mummy doesn’t get too mad.

No more playing. Time out until dinner. 

Bored. So bored. Nothing to do. No brother to play with. Can’t sneak out. It is forbidden and daddy made sure it’s impossible. 

Spin in circles. Get dizzy. Fall over. Jump on bed. Jump off bed. Make too much noise. Mummy’s angry. Daddy has to punish again. Everything is so that mummy doesn’t get angry. 

Ten slaps and more time out. No dinner tonight. 

Hungry. So hungry. Ask Kreacher for dinner but Kreacher won’t give dinner because mummy forbid it and Kreacher only wants to make mummy happy. Everyone wants to make mummy happy.

No one wants to make Sirius happy. 

Bedtime. No sleep. Too hungry. Too hurt. Too sad. Too angry.

PIANOS AND CLOCKWORK: with clocks we play, and waste the day away; one of our muses is at the piano attempting yet again to master Clocks, the other happens to walk by the door, enticed by the music…by the end of the day, they are playing together…rain a soft pitter patter on the windows.

Yet again, his ears were filled with delight as he passed down that hallway.

He could tell that the first few verses were already smooth, and as the peak approached, whoever was playing seemed to have a few problems mastering it. Nevertheless, it managed to halt him in his tracks, lingering by the door step. The boy decided to rest by the bench across the entrance to the room, intrigued by the fact that the tempo started going evidently slower and definitely lonelier--lonelier than the drizzle that had just started.

He found himself peeking through the small window in the large, wooden door. A small smile lit up his melancholic face as soon as he recognized the female playing with the keys. She repeated a verse, a focused expression on her face, her glassy eyes hinting the desire to perfect the piece. He finally decided to enter, fingers delicately wrapping around the knob to turn it soundlessly.

It was past eight and Myungsoo honestly thought he could immediately send Jinri home after finishing Biology reports, but even his bad case of coughs and colds wasn’t enough to convince the ever-persistent girl on leaving.

"You idiot, seriously," she rolled her eyes playfully before plunging onto the male’s bed, a smug expression following suit. "I’m here to take care of you, duh."

Right, he huffs, settling on the edge of the bed. Although he promised to never be burdened, Myungsoo still felt bad since he could never be as affectionate as Jinri. She lived a couple of blocks away from him, which was the main reason they’re bestfriends, but of course he did not want her to catch the virus.
