Is anybody else going to be reading the Ultimate Oz Universe comic when it comes out?
I'm really looking forward to it and I'm very, curious to how it's going to go.
So it's one of those sequel/retellings, from after the first book it's going to be following Tip escaping Mombie and encountering the other characters. The authors know the 14 and even 40 from what I heard and will be exploring a more mature retelling re-imagining of Baum's world.
Dorothy will also show in it, as an adult now, and I had heard it was also talked about characters like Nimmie Amee will also be shown in it.
I'm not sure of what fully to expect but I like a lot of Oz media that's in, all the ways they could possibly take it so I'm really excited for it.
I personally feel like a very important thing to note before anyone judges it, it's being marketed as if you only know the MGM and as a way to introduce a different version of Baum's expanded Oz world, which I believe is why you can see some MGM influence in the designs. And I do respect that and appreciate it.
The writers know the 14 but it looks like they're planning to make it a cross for something book Oz fans can enjoy as well as people who know just some of the iconic movies can also enjoy, which I very much appreciate. And! I'm curious how it'll go.
I'm very excited for it in all.
What are your thoughts on it?
Of course I'm hoping for Scraps to be in it but considering we are starting from book 2 I feel like she's a little too far away to appear. I hope at least for some references for her and if they continue maybe!
Also particularly after realizing why they made them MGM inspired I do appreciate the level of detail and attention they gave the designs. Going for a more dark Oz feel without losing all the feeling of Oz.
