Like with the dad I understand he didn't want his sons to see him go down a dangerous path. And grief we can't really judge because people do handle it in different ways and sometimes it's not the most sensible of ways. And in his case definitely it was not okay because of how he also handled it and walking out after their mom passed it added so much more weight for yei to carry. Yei was being thrown on to take care of the gym so suddenly while also trying to accomplish his little brother's dream. While also stepping up being in a way a father figure too, he never had a chance to lean on others he's used to handling everything on his own and that's how it should be to him. He just wanted his brother to live comfortably and then his boyfriend that came along and ended up being the biggest gift in his life! That he felt he didn't deserve but was going to try his hardest to give all he wanted. Yei has really held so much in to not have others worry he doesnt want that after he promised his mom. He made it his priority to do all above means to help and it's time he sees he can stop for a minute and let that help in!
