Love always wins.
OWN should pick up all these black shows honestly it would be a great investment and the network already has loyal black viewers who would love these shows
So I watched and finished The Great Soul Food Cook-Off recently and it was a pretty entertaining show. I learned some things I didn't know before, the chefs and judges were pretty entertaining, and I of course loved to see the Gullah-Geechee talked about and celebrated in that one episode.
I don't think it was wrong to emphasize things. Like the impact of soul food on cuisine as a whole and acknowledging the people behind it. Or that pointing out said aspects of the food is just not talked about. I mean I've watched a fair number of cooking shows and we've never been highlighted like this or to this extent. That says a lot.
The fact that this show celebrates blackness so loudly and boldly was a selling point to me.
And I would recommend it to anyone who loves cooking, cooking shows and wants to celebrate blackness and black talent.
@ships-bynoa @adorkable-blackgirl HAPPENING! It's HAPPENING! Our girl finna do things again and this time in a space where they most likely won't suffocate her potential! 🥺🥺🥺 I'm so happy!
I got to see her in an episode of Harlem as a queer woman and now she boutta have a seemingly regular role on OWN. 💕

Oprah Winfrey Network announced today that it has acquired the critically acclaimed 'Underground' to air beginning Tuesday, January 5
OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today that it has acquired the critically acclaimed historical drama “Underground” to air beginning Tuesday, January 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The dramatic series from Sony Pictures Television will have a revitalized presentation on OWN, with newly filmed episodic introductions by cast members, never-before-seen behind the scenes footage and more.
Ummmm ... I never thought this day would come. I am actually really shocked. Maybe this will lead to it being reprised one day.
The Series Summary: In 1857, a restless slave named Noah organizes a small team of fellow slaves on the Macon plantation outside Atlanta, and puts together a plan to run for their lives — 600 dangerous miles North — to freedom. The odds of success are slim; the path to freedom’s terrain is unforgiving, and Tom, their politically ambitious owner will surely kill anyone attempting to run. For those who make it off the plantation, the risks and uncertainties multiply. They leave family behind to pay for their sins, as they face danger and death at every turn. They’re aided along the way by an abolitionist couple in Ohio, new to running a station on the Underground, unprepared for the havoc it will wreak with their personal lives, while they evade a ruthless slave catcher hell-bent on bringing them back, dead or alive.
I truly love shows like Queen Sugar and Greenleaf. They’ve managed to showcase a nice contrast for black families. The storylines while sometimes over the top a bit...but I really loved the honesty in both. Not every character is just one thing.
