the mall near me feels like it has more closed down empty stores every time i visit, but they always try to hide it by covering over the fronts and plastering them with groups of perky generic colorful posters and hanging signs with a real 'live laugh love' feel to them, and it really gives the place a subtle horror vibe to me
all the malls from my youth have been torn down save for ridgmar mall in fort worth and I’d really kinda like to go back and poke around it someday.
But it just was never as fun to be in after they tore out the giant spiraling rampway to the second floor.
I remember walking around it in the 2000s when half the mall was abandoned and they were making some big effort to revitalize and everything was covered in black tarps
Another mall near me, that I believe is gone now, used to have, in the 1980s, this GIANT arcade complete with a shooting gallery full of animatronic pirates on a ship that took up two floors. You just never see cool shit like that anymore.
