You know I make a lot of jokes about how James Goss is kind of an (incredibly) inconsistent writer, and I definitely have my problems with him. But god I love the Owen and Andy dynamic he created.
He took two characters that literally never interacted. Iâd have to check but are they ever even in the same frame? I donât think they are?
And you know what? Not only did he make it work. He added onto Owenâs character themes. Contrasting Owenâs struggles with what his death means for him with someone that just has the exact opposite vibes. A sunny person thatâs generally pretty optimistic against Owenâs cynicism and hardened shell. Itâs the classic buddy cop/odd couple dynamic. But likeâŚthe way itâs done just adds to both of their characters.
Gooseberry kind of drops ball, like I get what it was trying to do but hmmmmâŚ.Iâll wait for to the follow up to the cliff hanger there. But god I just love their dynamic. OweAndy supremacy.
