I'm literally Jewish. There is a thousands-of-years-long history of "Jew-coding" villains by giving them the stereotypical Jewish traits that goyim think we have (black hair, hooked nose, yellow-undertone/"sallow" skin, etc.) with the intention of communicating to the goyishe audience that this character is a villain in part BECAUSE they are Secretly Jewish. With Loki? Especially stupid considering he's a Norse god. But it's still an intentional choice on the part of the filmmakers to style him that way, especially in contrast to Obviously A Heroic Goy Aryan Norse Thor. Is it possible that they just went, "Loki is the inverse of Thor, appearance-wise, and Thor looks big and strapping and Nordic, so Loki should look small and weaselly and semitic"? Sure. But even that "they need to look inverse and the inverse of a heroic Nordic dude is a little semitic dude" has implications that tie into WHY LOKI FITS AN ARCHETYPE. Like, Snape isn't the inverse of Harry Potter, and he and Loki are completely interchangeable in appearance. Ditto Kyle Ron and Rey. Arguably Iago is the inverse of Othello, but ultimately both portrayals are fucking racist, so. There's a reason Tumblr's Favorite Villains all look the same, and that same is "the way goyim think Jews look." It's an antisemitic trope, period, EVEN WHEN it's being applied to a literal Norse god.
