question: let's say that i'm feeling stressed and an alter and i switch with them so that stress goes away, is that alter an overrider? (note: i'm using the definition that Pluralpedia provides of "overrider")
could be, it mostly depends on whether or not your system and that alter in particular feels like that term benefits them or fits the role they provide in the system. if an overrider is an alter who overrides the bodyās [or another headmateās] feelings or emotions, then switching out with them to manage stress or regulate emotions very well could fit that description.
personally if we had an alter like that weād probably call them a regulator or emotional manager, depending on how they handle the stress left behind. i guess it would depend on how that alter handles the stress. do they cope with it? bury it? make it disappear without processing it at all? are there just emotional barriers between yāall so they donāt feel the stress you were feeling when they switch?
but yeah, if your system and that alter feels like overrider is a good label for the role they perform, then thereās nothing wrong with that. labels can be chosen at will as they work for us and never have to be set in stone. so they may find a better label for their role and their role itself may change in the future, and thatās okay. hope this helps :)
