Sorta urgent? Hi, um I used to be anorexic and I overexercised (like exercise until I black out) as part of that which got me in the habit of doing it. Im not anorexic anymore and am trying to put on weight, mostly muscle, but when I go to the gym I over exercise, i don’t black out anymore, but ik this isn’t at all healthy. I’ve tried writing a routine to follow but I still push myself too much. Do you (or your followers) have any tips to not do this?
Hey, I’m not an expert in eds, but I think that maybe gym exercise is not the healthiest option for you right now. You may have to wait longer to let your body recover, or you may have to try different types of movement that you won’t fight yourself about. Perhaps being at the gym with other people exercising and mirrors and such makes things too competitive for you, even if you’re only competing against your disordered thoughts. Things like gentle walking, yoga or stretches, gentle hiking, maybe swimming might be a better option for the time being! Give yourself rest days, don’t workout to in order to “justify” eating. Eating needs no justification, you need it to live!
Please be safe and be careful! Any ed recovery followers or blogs want to chime in?– Mimi
