* Egy Warwick basszusgitár került hozzám ovangkol nyakkal. A probléma az volt, hogy valami veszett módon el volt görbülve a nyak, a pálca pedig semmit nem csinált, hiába feszítettük. Ezért leszedtem a fogólapot, hogy kiderüljön, mi volt a probléma, és a képen látszik, hogy a lehető legegyszerűbb egyirányú pálcát tették bele (Musimáknál használtak ilyesmit...), ráadásul a fix végpontnál már valószínűleg marásnál kiszakadhatott az anyag, így alig tartott valamit. Jobb alul láthatjátok, hogy milyen görbületet kellett volna kompenzálnia a pálcának. Sajnos az ovangkol képes ilyenre, ha nem megfelelően lett szárítva. Külön érdekesség még, hogy a Warwick nagyon büszke a plusz fémszelvényekkel megerősített nyakmegoldásaira, ami egyébként szuper ötlet, és sokan mások is átvehetnék, de ha a nyak anyaga maga nem megfelelő, akkor ez semmit sem ér. Folytatás következik. * A Warwick bass with ovangkol neck was given to me for repair. The neck had a really strong curve , and the truss rod didn˙t do anything, no matter how I stressed it. So I removed the fretboard to find out, what´s the root of the problem, and you can see on the picture, that they used the simplest one direction truss rod (the Musimas used similar). At the anchor end, the wood was partially torn out most likely during the routing process, so that´s most likely why it couldn´t help the relief. On the lower right you can see, how big curve the truss rod should have corrected. Sadly, the ovangkol can do such things, if not used after proper drying process. Fun fact, that the Warwick company is really proud of their strengthened necks with metal bars, which in itself is a wonderful idea, and more brands should use it, but can´t do anything good, if the neck material is crap.
