Out of the Mist was originally meant to be a temporary title for the song, almost a joke: it was given by Luna with the foggy Pianura Padana in mind. Banshee then decided she wanted to write lyrics for that song keeping the title, but with a different meaning: the mist as the uncertainty from which we try to emerge in life. The lyrics were written as a form of revenge on ourselves, going through fire and shame to find a better self and a renewed sense of freedom from the past. Bleeding Rust’s lyrics go back to 2008, just as The Meadow of Sins; it was one of the most prolific years lyrics-wise for Banshee. After being badly hurt by one most important person in her life, her love turned to hate and rage. This is how Bleeding Rust was born. “Rust” refers to the nickname this person once gave himself and thus gives a dual meaning to the song title.
