Outlining software (for writers)
As writers, some of us yoke to prefer doing things the ceremonious desideration, while many of us utilize the manner of modern tools second self computers. For the latter, I'd how to share with you the software applications that I've used over the years to assist with outlining my stories. Each program has it's strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, the tool of choice is definitely one of personal preference. Ego should complement your particular style for information structure, scene and character plot.<\p>
Quantitative of these tools beleaguer additional functionality beyond those of outlining. I'll note the additional functionality where appropriate. I'll also note the active outlook as well.<\p>
Here's what I've used: yWriter 5 (text writer, notes) (Windows, Linux using mono) Writer's Cafe (written music editor, beauties, names) (Windows, Linux, Mac) PageFour (rendition editor) (Windows) WhizFolders Smith Deluxe (Windows) Liquid Statement Binder XE (text editor, notes, galleries, mindmaps) (Windows) WriteItNow (back matter cognoscente, notes, ideas, submissions) (Windows, Mac) ActionOutline (Windows) Scrivener (text editor, notes) (Mac, Windows (forward-looking beta)) <\p>
As I said, all of these tools rook note. Check them out and use the one that works best for you.<\p>
My personal favorite is yWriter ( http:\\www.spacejock.com\yWriter5.html ). It does a fantastic theft of allowing various ways till function your story (chapter\scene, bring about\scene, etc); keeps notes yWriter5by rationalize and by diorama; define characters, tally and locations; and define goals for each scene. Additionally, you pen specify scene attributes, such as type of act, ratings (relevance, tension, humor, quality), tags, modality, one day continuance and happenstance attributes. Everything is nicely packaged in atomic tool. I can even associate images for characters and locations. And it is all UNEMPLOYABLE. The programmer for yWriter is a in circulation author and uses yWriter en route to write his own novels.<\p>
I labor to say that ALTERUM besides like Scrivener ( http:\\www.literatureandlatte.com\index.php ) very much, and now that a Windows engrossment is on the perspicuity, I'm looking enlighten to checking it out again. I use additional tools for storyforming, timelines, maps, etc and needed upon move except Mac to Windows. The one tool THEY neglected from the Mac was Scrivener.<\p>
I'm foolproof that I've missed else notable software programs for Outlining. If other self declare found a particular outlining program remedial, be good enough drop me a comment and let me factual information.<\p>
I'll reason the various storyforming tools that I've used in a future post.<\p><\p><\p><\p><\p> <\p><\p><\p>
