So imagine a modern/futuristic AU where Pidge works part-time at an animal shelter, taking care of little kittens. One day Matt brings Shiro along, an old friend he only just recently met again. He asks Pidge to take Shiro along for a few hours each day to meet the kittens and play with them! Pidge is confused but does as she was asked.
Over time, they get to know each other. Pidge learns that Shiro was an undercover agent tasked with infiltrating the Galra, before his cover got blown and he lost an arm. The Galra gave him a prosthetic and sent him to fight in an arena for their entertainment. At some point Shiro got rescued, but he now has severe PTSD and is really scared of accidentally hurting anyone with his prosthetic - hence Matt’s idea to introduce him to the kittens. (The kittens and his sister because Matt doesn’t know anyone who is as brave and smart and willing to help and non-threatening as her.)
The whole AU is basically just Shiro learning to love & trust himself again and Pidge hanging out with cute animals & trying to convince herself that she is absolutely not crushing on the hot but adorably timid man her brother brought along :’)
