authors note: suddenly got a good idea for a series, decided to write this to see if itâd actually be a good idea or if iâm just too tired to think straight lmao
Felix never liked being the centre of attention. The feeling of eyes constantly trained on him as he went about his day was enough to make his skin crawl. It didnât help that he managed to stand out so clearly in a crowd so it came as no surprise when he caught you staring at him from across the campfire.
Leaning against a tree with a branch you had been carving into an arrow in hand, it was amazing how you hadnât accidentally cut yourself yet.
The flames acted as a barrier between you two but even with the flames licking high up in the air, Felix still caught your gaze that seemed to stare into his soul.
It sent shivers down his spine. Different from sickening feeling of his skin crawling and instead replaced discomfort with nervousness.
What was so intriguing about him that you felt the need to stare? What was there about him that you didnât already know? He was an open book to you but if that were the case why were you staring at him like he was something new?

AN: Hey guys!!! Guess who finally got motivation to start this series once more!! Iâm so sorry for the almost year in wait, but like and many other things kept me out of the fandom. Thankfully Iâm back into it so I hope you enjoy the next chapter :D)
It took many days, it seemed. Far too many for Rufio, but he could not let his mission go. He asked every single boy he could, from the shy and quiet onces like Alexander and James, to the louder ones like Xavier and Mateo, to even Thompson, THOMPSON, the resident phychopath!
Each idea had merits, and each one he thought out and planned. Some were simple, like locking them into one of the boyâs treehouses until they admitted their feelings, to more ourlandish ones like tying them together, putting them in one of the cages, and threatening them to admit it.
Note to self, never ask Thompson about relationship advice ever again.
Rufio furrowed his brows, lost in thought as the familiar face of Y/n leaned close to his.Â
âHellooo, earth to Rufio!â they called, waving in front of his face, causing him to jump and glance to them. âwhat?â
âyouâve been staring at the ground for hours nowâ They replied, tilting their head in confusion. âWhatâs wrong??â
âeverythingâ He admitted, holding his head in his hands. âMio dio, Y/n, how can i help get someone to admit their feelings when they are so stubborn?â
Silence fell them, and Rufio realized who he spoke to, and he tensed, fearing she would find out. His fear, was in vain though, as a thoughtful look crossed their features. âWell...If I was...Iâd try to get them on a romantic date... like a boat ride.â
âA boat ride?â
âYes, maybe around sunset to add to the mood. Flowers would be nice, though depending on who it is it might not be well taken.â they chuckled, smiling.Â
Hope soon spread over Rufioâs face, and he soon bounced up and hugged them tightly. âYou are a genius Y/n! I mean that!â He cried, almost spinning them around in their excitement, before rushing off, leaving poor Y/N in the dust. âThank you!âÂ
Confusion remained on their face, they softly gave a youâre welcome, a strange foreboding welling within them.Â

Jefferson wasnât really sure how long you sat holding each other like that, but he knew that it wasnât long enough. His body ached for yours the be close to his again when you pulled away smiling sweetly at him.
âCome,â you held out your hand to him, feeling the butterflies in your stomach when he took it without hesitation. He wiped the tears from his eyes trusting you completely to lead him to the ends of the world if you wanted to. You didnât. Instead you led him to the balcony climbing the rails much to his protest.
âItâs fine,â you laughed, tugging his hat a little. âYou got your hat to save us right? Not that we need it to fall through.â
Your teasing, made him roll his eyes but he still followed you to sit next to you. The view was impressive he would give you that, but it would still be impressive behind the safety of the railing.
âFrollo went crazy when he found out that I escaped,â you spoke quietly, restarting your story and instantly Jeffersonâs hand found yours again. You loved him for that. His touch gave you the strength you needed to carry on.
âHe hunted down my people. Locked them up. Those of us that werenât hiding over there,â you pointed towards the cemetery. âWe had this underground small city almost called The Court of Miracles. Itâs how we were safe from men like him. Not this time however. When he couldnât get to us, he got to the people that normally took us in. He burned down houses sometimes with people inside.â
Jefferson saw the way you looked into the distance and heard the way your voice started to tremor. He knew you were blaming yourself just like he had earlier. He wasnât having it.
âIt wasnât your fault. Nothing that happened. It was on him,â Jefferson gently, but firmly reminded you. You smiled sadly, giving his hand a small squeeze.
âIf I hadnât have hidâŚâ you started and Jefferson shook his head.
âYou donât know. You canât know. A guy like that. The entire city might still have burned,â he said quietly and you nodded.
âIt did. He tricked Quasi into thinking he knew where I was. So he came to see me. To warn me. Frollo followed him and he locked all the gypsies up. He put me on the pire claiming I was a witch,â you continued your story, smiling sadly at the confused look on Jeffersonâs face.
âWhat does a witch have to do with him being insane and burning people?â he asked and you sighed.
âIn my time. In this world. Magic was seen as wicked. All magic. Thousands of women were burned and drowned even if they had no magic. Thatâs how it disappeared from the world I think. People got scared to use it and it was forgotten.â Jefferson wore a look of disgust as you told him this and he couldnât wait to leave this place. As bad as Regina was at least she had never been that insane and she was getting better. Storybrooke wasnât that bad of a home he thought, smiling a little thinking getting back from this journey it might become better still. Grace would like you. He knew it.
âHe tied Quasi up here.â You pointed to the balcony and the pillars behind you. Your motion tore Jefferson from his thoughts and he noticed you had started shaking. He, careful not to look down as he moved, shifted a little closer to you so your side was pressed against his with your hands still linked resting on your thigh.
âFrollo he⌠He told me to marry him. Share his bed. If I did I would be spared from the flames.â You felt Jefferson tense up next to you and you looked up into his eyes. âI spat in his face.â
A proud smile spread across Jeffersonâs face. He still wanted to kill the guy even if he knew he was already dead, but you standing up for yourself was even better. Your strength and courage was admirable and one of the things Jefferson was falling for the hardest.
âI still feel the flames on my skin and the smoke going into my lungs.â Your eyes pooled with tears as you rested your head against Jeffersonâs shoulder overlooking the city. âI donât remember much after that. I remember Quasi swinging down and lifting me free. I remember the city catching fire and it looked like a sea of flames beneath us when Frollo followed him up here. I remember them fighting. I remember falling but I never hit the flames. A portal opened beneath me and when I woke up I was in Atlantis.â
You felt Jeffersonâs arm around you, pulling you closer. Keeping you as if he was afraid you would fall and disappear once again.
âHow?â
âI have no ideaâŚâ you began before a voice sounded beside you.
âWe doâŚâ
You screamed in surprise and Jefferson acted quickly, pulling you off the rail with him and shoving you behind his back. His eyes however was as wide as yours watching the odd sight of three very much alive gargoyles hopping towards you.
âWhat the hell is that?â Jefferson asked, emphasizing âthatâ, but before you could once again claim your ignorance the little round one spoke.
âWe are gargoyles. Iâm Hugo. Thatâs Victor and Laverne,â he explained, getting up close to Jefferson staring him down. Jefferson wasnât quite sure what to make of the statue glaring at him but he didnât like it one bit.
âQuasimodo brought us to life,â the tall one explained. âHe passed on peacefully decades ago, but his magic still lingers.â
Jefferson wanted to protest and pull you back behind him when you stepped forward with a curious expression on your face. He however knew you well enough to know that would only get him punched so he stayed close to you instead.
âMagic? Quasi didnât have magic,â you insisted and the female gargoyle smiled.
âHe didnât know he did for a long time. We never told him that him giving us life meant that he did. We thought he knew,â she explained, hanging her head. Apparently rocks could have regret too, you thought.
âHe was the product of true love,â Victor explained. âA savior. He rebuild this city after it burned. He watched over it.â
âFrollo?â you asked and Laverne took your hand, to ease your mind.
âHe fell. Burning with the old city. With Quasiâs help new leaders rose. The city was reborn. His magic was unstable though. Opening the portal was his fear of losing you. He never figured out how to bring you back,â she spoke sadly.
âI was trapped under a spell in Atlantis for decades until I met a mermaid who freed me. Ariel,â you explained to the Gargoyles and Jefferson that stayed close against you, his arm resting comfortably around your waist. âIt wasnât Quasiâs fault. He saved my life.â
You looked up at Jefferson who smiled down at you, giving you the courage to move on. âShe brought me to the enchanted forest. I was searching for a way home when Reginaâs spell trapped us all.â
You spend a few hours in the bell tower, sitting with Jefferson listening to the gargoyles tell you of your friendâs life. He never stopped searching for you but near the end he found peace. He learned a way to look into your future using an earring you lost. The gargoyles didnât know what he saw, but whatever it was had made him happy. Laverne had handed you a folded up drawing he made, before you left with Jefferson, thanking them for showing you their secret.
Jefferson was quiet when the two of you walked out of the cathedral. He kept his hand in yours but his mind was a million miles away. The two of you slipped through the square and down to the river by the old docks where Jefferson could work the magic of the hat without anyone seeing.
âAre you ready to go home?â was the first thing he said to you since the two of you were alone in the bell tower. You frowned stepping in front of him blocking him from throwing his hat.
âIn a minute. Whatâs on your mind, Jefferson?â you asked softly, taking the hat from him and putting in on the ground next to you. You took both his hands in yours looking up into his eyes, trying to will him to talk.
âIâm sorry. I said Iâd take you anywhere, but going back in time to see your friend⌠I donât know how to do that,â he spoke quietly and you smiled. You truly had underestimated his kindness when you first met. He was nothing like you thought him to be but everything you didnât know you wanted.
âIt doesnât matter,â you insisted but Jefferson didnât feel any better. He wanted you with him and if he couldnât take you back you wouldnât stay. The bell ringerâs prophecy told him as much.
âThe drawingâŚâ he started and you finally understood. You shook your head affectionately, giving his hands a squeeze.
âThe drawing wonât show me going back. It will show me moving forward,â you explained smiling at the confusion on Jeffersonâs face.
âHow do you know?â he asked, sadness still lacing his eyes.
âBecause I know Quasi. My happiness would be enough for him to be happy,â you answered, letting go of Jeffersonâs hands surprising him by wrapping your arms around his neck. It didnât take long for him to respond and his hands came to rest on your hips as he looked down into your eyes.
Hope was starting to return to him but he still couldnât let go completely. âDonât you want to look?â
âNo. I donât want to see my future,â you answered, standing so close to him your breath warmed his lips. âIâd rather live it.â
You pressed your lips against his and Jefferson closed his eyes, pulling you closely against him. For all you had both been through, you had still found each other. You had found love across worlds and times. A true love that was going to last for the rest of your lifetime.

Jefferson looks at you while you are cooking. His eyes following your every move, the way you chop the vegetables, the expression on your face, the little smirk on your lips.
- what is it? - you ask keeping your hands busy, you know that if you stop you two will end up kissing and getting⌠Distracted, specially since your daughter is in school.
- I love you - he says with a smile, you smile too but soon a couple of tears start falling from your eyes, Jefferson run over to you to hug you from behind - what is it, love? - he ask worriedly and you laugh a bit.
- itâs nothing - your answer. laughing more letting him keep the hug.
- I hate seeing you crying - he says and his breathe caresses your neck.
- Jeff itâs OK, Iâm just chopping onions - at your words Jefferson down his sight and look at the onions.
- I donât like onions, they are like ogres -you frown and tilt the head not getting what is he talking about - Havenât you see Shrek?- he ask like you just offended him.
- what is a Shrek? - you ask confused and finally turn to look at him - Jeff⌠- you start getting angry at him, but he suddenly kiss you and the angry disappears, you let go the knife and turn your body to be completely in front of him
- itâs a movie, we will watch it today, after dinner, movie night - he decides instantly and you canât tell no to that happy face
- fine, Isnât hour to go for our daughter? - you ask and he nods, he start walking to the door but you stop him, taking him by the hand. He turns to you and you step on your tip toes to kiss him shortly - I love you too - he smile widely and say his goodbyes quickly before leaving.Â
Even when he is gone, you keep smiling because this time, thereâs nothing that can keep you apart, thereâs no witches, no queens, no villains, no heroes and no lands, no traveling magic. You have a normal life, and this, this is your happy ending.

Storybrook was long since back to normal, or as normal as it would ever be you assumed. A curse was no longer resting upon you all, making you forget time and yourselves. The only problem was that remembering was a worse curse to you. With years having passed once again as if it was none, you once again drifted further and further away from the place you belonged. The one place you had long since realized you should never have left.
You had seen him circling you like a prey and you were sure you looked like that to most. A lost, bewildered girl that felt out of place in the world. You werenât sure what he wanted, but you knew what he was. You wanted nothing to do with him or his tricks.
Luckily he had never spoken to you. He was always just watching. The child always close by. He wasnât the only one watching however. Seeing him with the child, almost made you change your mind about him a few times. You should hate him. He was everything you hated. Powerful, magic, selfassure, male.
He just also reminded you of a man you never hated. A man that performed on the streets. Played with the children and made them gush and aw much like Jefferson did playing hide and seek with his duaghter or making minor objects appear behind her ears much to her glee. You watched how gently he pushed her on the swings and how he always caught her jumping off. She trusted him too and he never let her down.
Maybe you could trust him, but it wasnât like trusting him meant anything after all. You knew every story. You knew every magic bean and hat. You knew their limits. Even if you werenât quite sure if the hat could work the miracle you so desperately wanted, you knew you could never ask that of the man smiling at you every day in hope that one day you might see that he understood.
If anyone understood the curse of remembering something or someone theyâd rather forget it was the man driven mad by his loss. The man that had finally started to regain some sense of himself with the return of his daughter into his care.
He saw the same pained look in your eyes he had seen in the mirror for decades. He knew you had lost someone or something. More than that he also saw the fire slowly dying. You werenât going mad from your grief, like he did. You were simply slowly withering away. So he made a choice, one he wasnât sure he if was going to regret. There was something about you though. Something that made him trust you and want to ease your pain. You wouldnât abandon him or trap him in a faraway world with you. He had seen the small smiles when you watched him and his Grace. You understood she was all he had and all that it had taken for him to lose and regain his sanity.
âHi there,â Jefferson approached you slipping around the tree you were leaning against. You jumped, glaring up at him. You hadnât noticed him coming up behind you. You frowned looking around, noticing instantly the absence of his child.
âIâve seen you been watching me,â Jefferson tried, but the truth was he was a bit rusty approaching people. Truthfully he might never have been all that good at it. He liked the theatrics and having people think they knew him when they really didnât. For some reason that wasnât what he wanted with you. He wanted you to see all of him. Trust him.
âWhere is your daughter?â You looked around, giving him a suspicious look. Whatever he wanted it couldnât be good. It couldnât come without a price. It never did with magic folk like him. Everything came with a price. Usually much steeper than the person paying it could ever predict.
âSheâs with a friend. Henry. Sheriff and Mayorâs kid.â Jefferson pulled a face at the last word. There was no love lost between him and Emma, but Regina was the direct cause of years worth of suffering and madness. He had chosen to let it go. For the sake of Grace. But that didnât mean he enjoyed the thought of his child potentially ending up anywhere near the evil queen, even if that wasnât completely all evil anymore.
âI was thinking you and me could go on a small trip,â Jefferson suggested, flipping the hat off his head, spinning it between his fingers.
Your eyes instantly narrowed at the man and you hissed, âHow about you fuck off?â You twirled around on your heels heading back down into town to find a new hide away for the day. Far away from the Mad Hatter and the likes of him.
âAnywhere you wanna go?â Jefferson called out after her, not really knowing what else to do. He had thought she would have jumped at the chance to find whatever it was she was morning.
You stopped in your tracks, taking a deep breath before turning back around to look at him. The smirk on his face made you wanna storm towards him and slap him silly, but he was trying to help so you bite down your anger. It was hard. The mistrust of any man, especially the ones of magic and power, ran deep. Only you had nothing left to lose by trusting him.
âEven a place without magic?â you asked, causing the man in front of you to smile.
âEvery place holds magic unless magic keeps it at bay,â he answered, twirling the hat and a swirl of blue surrounded it. The hatter offered you his hand, hesitating for a moment you took it and jumped with him into the hat. How you could be both inside it and it being back in his hand youâd never understand. You werenât quite the witch people had believed you to be, back when you were from.
âTell me where you want to go, Y/N,â Jefferson asked as you wide eyed looked around the seemingly endless room of doors.
âParis,â your voice were quiet but almost meak. You were afraid to return but you knew you had to. The people⌠Your people you had left behind still needed you. You needed them.
You heard his voice. You heard him ask you to stay close. That the only way to return was together. You heard the pain in his voice. It was the pain that broke you from your trance and your eyes met his steel blue ones.
âI wonât betray you. You have my word,â you promised and Jefferson nodded quietly as he picked a door stepping through with you right behind him.
The sight that met you was nothing like you had foreseen. It was not the Paris you had left behind. You knew that. Deep down you knew that and still you had never felt more lost as you watched the cars flash by in the city you barely even recognized.

Request: Can I please request a Graham (OUAT) x Reader fic where he is about to ask her to move in but she thinks he is going to break up with her? Angsty but with a good end if that's okay? Xx
Storybrooke had been nice and quiet the last couple of weeks - or really ever since you remembered. No unusual disturbances, just the peaceful and very quiet small town live you always pictured yourself having. Well it had been quite like that ever since the blonde with the red jacket had turned up. Her and the mayor banged heads almost instantly and things around town started to change. There was always tension in the air, worse than between Regina and Gold actually. Emma, as Graham told you, was really something else. And despite everyone else in town liking her spirit and stubbornness against Mayor Mills you didn't like her one bit.
You noticed whenever Graham would talk about her, how great she was doing as deputy, that there was a spark in his eye. Something you hadn't seen in him since as long as you could think. He had more or less simply functioned, his job dull with no real crime happening around. You always made it your daily goal to make him smile at least once a day even before you went out, but even over the months of your relationship you noticed he was missing something. He seemed to have found it now.
If a couple of days with the admittedly pretty woman had such an impact on him what would happen in weeks or months? Emma seemed determined on out stubborning Ms Mills so there was no hope she'd leave your life alone. It was probably only matter of time till Graham would move on, do better than a girlfriend who wouldn't even make him as happy as a stranger could. You saw your relationship crash and burn whenever he'd tell you about his day with Emma down at the station.
"Why are you so brooding today, (Y/n)?" Whale asked while dropping a huge pile of charts on your desk "You know I'd be more than happy to cheer you up."
"Last time I checked you wanted to cheer up nurse Tiana" You replied with an eye roll. Working in the hospital wasn't bad same as Doctor Whale wasn't a bad person, but his hitting on every single nurse became old and annoying ages ago.
"Why settle on second best if my pretty little (Y/n) needed me?" He winked.
"I'll let you know when I need you" Shrugging you looked down at all the new medical charts. Damn he would make you late for dinner with Graham. Dinner with Graham! Suddenly you remembered why you had been brooding all day. He had texted you earlier just after your shift stated that he'd pick you up for dinner, he apparently had something important to discuss with you. After that text it didn't take a genius to figure out that your boyfriend finally caught on onto what woman made him happy and whom he needed to dump first.
You didn't look forward to that conversation.
Like every day your shift ended at five when the nurses for the night shift turned up and went over the details of the day - nothing out of the ordinary today, just like always. Today you took your sweet time however explaining to them how nothing happened and after that for changing out of your scrubs and into casual clothes. Had you known Graham wanted to get dinner you would have brought something a bit more impressive, but on the other hand why bothering to dress up for getting dumped. Your heart felt heavy as you thought about losing Graham while blankly staring into the mirror. Maybe a new hair cut to spice things up would have done wonders to keeping his interest or maybe you could have tried to look more stunning and confident. You sighted, maybe he wasn't meant to be yours in the first place.
A knock on the changing room disrupted your thoughts. It was time to face the world again. "For the last time Whale, I don't need your help dressing or undressing!" You yelled while grabbing both your jacket and bag. When you opened the door forcefully you ran square into a broad chest you know all too well. Graham smiled as he simply held onto you and kissed your hair. "Please tell me you're kidding and Whale doesn't actually suggest such things?"
"He's way too scared of me to dare that" You shrugged out of his arms ignoring his confusion about the brief hello-hug "I know where his precious car is parked - and where the keys are." And where he keeps his 'work' alcohol, you added mentally.
"Planning on stealing cars are we?" Graham slid his arm around your waist before leaning in to whisper in your ear "I might have to handcuff you for that"
You just hummed unsure of what to say. To be honest you had expected him to be more distant and serious even before actually telling you to get out of his life. Maybe he was pretending? Probably, playing safe till you got some privacy, so you could save face in front of your colleagues. You'd hate to have the gossipy night nurses watch every step of your breakup. Graham was considering like that even to the woman he no longer loved or never had.
"You're awfully quiet" He said as you left the hospital to walk down to grannies "Something happened at work today?"
"Nothing unusual" You tried to smile casual "How was the station?"
"Quiet."
You entered the diner and Ruby immediately jumped on you. She looked super excited for some reason, her usual fidgety and energetic personality was even more on edge while a gigantic smile was plastered on her face. "Got the table you wanted, sheriff" You smiled and she let both of you to a nice secluded table with candles and flowers. Graham smiled at the waitress before he pulled out the chair for you. Really this was pretty grand for a break up diner, but you didn't complain the table was nice and private, so the nosy rest of Storybook would have to mind their own business.
Graham sat opposite you with a small smile on his lips, he seemed to study you intently which caused you to get even more nervous.
"What are you looking at?" You grumbled with a small huff, his smile didn't even falter at your harsh words.
"Just you" He replied. Before you could protest Ruby came with two wine glasses and a subtle wink as she put yours down in front of you. After the young woman was gone again Graham took your hands from across the table, automatically your eyes shot up to meet his.
"(Y/n), I've been thinking" Oh so her it came "A lot changed recently with Emma coming to town and joining me at the station."
You nodded warily, already preparing for the worst. And she's better than you. She made me realise I could do better. She makes me happy like you never could.
"I know the whole town is going crazy about her and the mayor, but I don't care. I think it's great to have someone else down at the station, someone who can handle a drunk miner. She's a real help, you know."
"I get it she's perfect" You snapped, having heard enough "I'll get the little things I ever left at your place after my shift tomorrow." You got up, not able to sit through the rest of this. With a deep breath you grabbed your jacket and bag and made your way through the diner. All you wanted was to go home and be sad and angry and a mess.
That plan went out the window, when someone grabbed your wrist just outside the diner. As you turned you faced a very confused and sad Graham.
"(Y/n) what was that?" He asked his voice shaken "I thought we were doing okay? I know my job often clashes with your shifts and that some days I could do a better job at cooking - That's why I took you out tonight in the first place." He sighted, a hand combing through his hair and making a mess of it "I⌠We⌠I didn't see it coming. But if that's how you feel about us, that's okay. I want you to be happy, (y/n/n)."
"You make me happy, Graham" You smiled slipping your wrist from his grip to squeeze his hands "But I'm not selfish enough to keep you if I can clearly see how someone else makes you happy. You and Emma are probably meant to be or something."
He met your eyes and the relief written all over it made your heart shatter. Suddenly you were pulled into a tight hug and spun around in a circle right under a street lamp. Any other timing and it would have been the perfect romantic moment. Right now you hated the uncalled for public display of affection. When Graham finally set you down again his bright smile was overwhelming and nothing like he ever smiled at you.
"So if I tell you I have zero romantic feelings for Emma you won't move out? Because tonight was about asking the opposite actually." Graham pulled out a small box of his pocket and popped the lid open. There lay a small silvery necklace with a key attached to it. "With Emma I have help at the station. I can schedule my shifts better which gives me more time for other things.â His voice turned more serious â He must have put a lot of thought into what came next â(Y/n), I want this other things to be us. You made me happy when I didn't have much else but a dull job and an empty apartment. You are amazing and I could never love anyone like I love you. I want this, us, to be together.â His soft hand cradled your cheek, bringing your eyes from the key chain up to meet his âWill you move in with me?"
"Yes" There were tears in your eyes but you ignored them as you brought your lips to his "I love you"
Pairing: Killian Jones x female!Reader, Rumpel x friend!reader, hinted at Rumpel x Belle.
Word Count: ~2k
Warnings: angst, h/c, open end
Request: Heya :) could you please do a Hook x reader where Hook and the reader grew up together as close friends, but now he is always teasing or harsh with the reader because he is jealous because she is close friends with Rumple and Hook thinks they like each other. One day he goes too far and Rumple confronts him. Thanks
(A/n: Not sure if thatâs what you wanted. Also it turned out way less cute and fluffy than I thought when I started writing. Oh well at least I got to practise my emotional h/c writing. Hope you like it. || Not my gif.)
Captain Hook. Your nose curled up in dislike for the name. It wasn't the fact that you held any (strong) dislike for the man behind the name, more that the name itself reminded you of who he had become. Who he had chosen to become.
You had been on the ship when Killian Jones became a pirate, you had been there when his brother died and you had been there when he slowly transformed into a real pirate. Always with the rum and the girls, you sighted at the memory. Killian once had been a good man, the one man you ever truly loved and who you'd have gone to the end of the world and back for. Back then.
"So he's in town?" You casually asked Emma who mentioned who else made it to Storybrooke after she and Snow returned. Hook and the Queen of hearts, an interesting combination to say the least. You had no business with the second, she had been long gone (apparently off to Wonderland) before you had set foot into the Enchanted Forest. However Killianâs arrival didnât sit well with your stomach, you hadnât seen him in years although he had been the first person you checked for after getting your memories back. The moment you realized he wasnât in Storybrooke you felt both sad and angered with yourself for even hoping. The Killian Jones youâd been friends with, who you loved, was gone.
You first came to the Enchanted Forest after quitting the pirate's life once and for all. You've never been one for rum and girls weren't exactly up your ally either, so why bother. The reason you joined a different side of the law didn't need you anymore, apparently never needed nor wanted you. So you got out and here you were, some port you had never set foot in with nothing but the cloths on your back. Ready for your next adventure, ready to move on.
However you knew one person who'd be more than interested in the arrival of the wonderland queen. You'd never talked about the exact extent of his past relationship with her, but you always had a feeling that the woman he called Cora had been more than the mother of the woman he needed to cast his curse. Cora had been special, in either a very good or very bad way to Rumpelstiltskin. And he would probably like to know the news of her arrival.
Having some kind of friendship with the dark one didn't put you in the best books with people, but it wasn't like you cared. People weren't lining up to become friends with an ex pirate who knew how to drink, swear and cheat. That there was more to you than that and your rough past didn't matter. So you took all the friends or rather alleys you could get.
Your first meeting with Rumple had been quite intriguing. He came around asking for someone who knew where a certain pirateâs ship might lie because said cocky pirate stole something of his. Of course the kind people in the tavern all pointed him towards you, pirate that you were. So one evening he cornered you, which you did not appreciate in the least. You got out of the life once and for all. When he started talking about making some kind of deal you snapped, fed up with his arrogance and attempts at intimidation.
"Oi mate, if you want to find the captain go look and don't bother strangers" You growled.
"Don't you know who you're mouthing off to?"
âHow would I?â You snapped back, not at least intimidated by his strange skin and the murderous gleam in his eyes. As a pirate you faced more than one big mouthed arrogant sailor. âYou never introduced yourself, only started empty threats and demanding to know things.â
âThe name is Rumpelstiltskinâ He paused for drama and a weird smile appeared on his thin lips âAnd believe me, dearie, my threats are never empty.â
âCongratsâ You muttered, still not buying his threatening crap fully, but strangely fascinated with his self-assured grin. At least he didnât mind talking to âa dirty pirateâ âMy drink is. Buy me another one and gimme a name and I see what I know.â
âHeyâ You entered Goldâs pawn shop with a tight smile. The whole way over you had been looking over your shoulder half hoping, half scared to meet Kilianâs familiar face and eyes. It had been so long, but felt like yesterday that you last met his eyes.
âHowâs my favourite assistant?â Rumple smiled as you entered, looking up from some book or scroll he had spread out on the shop counter. His eyes were something else and ever since you got your memories back you had a hard time getting your head around his now normal looking skin. The green-ish shade and the whole scaly look had oddly grown on you.
âIâm your only assistant, remember?â You rolled your eyes fondly âUnless you got Belle to talk to you againâŚâ
âLetâs not talk about itâ He groaned, closing his eyes for a second as his hand came up to cover his eyes in a painful-filled gesture. As the only person Rumple really ever considered a friend you knew everything about how he fell for his help back in the Enchanted Forest, how he mourned her back then and how she turned up at his shop shortly before Emma broke the curse. Although you never met the woman personally, you liked her spirit. In a different life the two of you could have been great friends.
âIâm not saying Iâm the relationship expert, but talking might helpâ You smiled kindly, knowing that he wouldnât take your advice anyway.
âYouâve been moping around all day, dearieâ You heard a familiar voice behind you, which caused you to twitch a little. However since it was a quite familiar voice you didnât mind so much. Who would expect a creature that could teleport to ever knock on the door anyway? âIâve got a minute before I need to collect some debts. Want to talk about it?â
Not particularly, you thought. Today was the one day a year you were always reminded what the past had been like and how much things changed. It was Kilianâs birthday, a day you would normally have spent together dreaming of a different life while watching the stars either from the shore or his ship.
âWhat if you didnât like what I told you, huh?â You asked casually, not meeting Rumpleâs eyes instead looking out the window at the blue sky that would soon turn darker and then fill with stars.
âAlready made enough people cry for one day, Iâll spare your life, dearieâ There was teasing in his voice that slightly lightened your mood. Thatâs why you loved your friendship so much, Rumple would always be able to make you smile with his overdramatic gestures or teasing sarcasm. âTalking might help.â
âRemember the night we met?â You asked taking a deep breath âWhen you asked about that pirate?â
âI rememberâ
âI might not only have known the name of the man you were looking for, but also his whereabouts. I quitted his services a couple of days before.â Another pause as your eyes fixed on the single white cloud on the otherwise spotless sky, âItâs his birthday today.â
âAnd youâre still hopelessly in love with the bastard?â âAyeâ
â(Y/n)!â Suddenly a rough voice you havenât heard in years, but still remember as fresh as on the day you left, called your name. Killian. So he did find you in her after all. âAnd if it isnât the bloody crocodile.â
You still had your back towards Killian so you could see the murderous glance in Rumpleâs eyes, the two of them had obviously history too. Before they could get more into the fight that was about to happen between them, you turned. Killian didnât look a day older than you remembered, his grey eyes and short black hair still messy as always. With hair like his he would have never made a good marine anyway, they were blowing into every thinkable direction when the rough wind of the sea went through them. It gave him a rough edge and an adventurous look. God, you missed him.
âSeems like you havenât stolen one, but both the woman I lovedâ Kilianâs eyes were filled with pure hatred and anger, his hand went for his sword without breaking eye contact with Rumple. He completely ignored your presence, standing right between them.
âYouâre one to talk about stealing, pirate. Milah was mine first.â Rumple sneered back, you could feel power radiating off him. Both men were in over their heads, filled with hate for each other.
âMilah loved me! As I loved herâ Killian yelled, his face growing red with anger as his eyes darted towards you for a split second. The anger you saw in his grey eyes only seemed to increase at your sight. âAnd (Y/n) was never yours! You stole her! I would have gotten her back, I wouldâŚâ
âNothingâ It was your time to yell now âYou didnât want me, you bloody bastard.â
âHow was the tavern, captain?â You asked in a light tone, only slightly teasing as you smelled the cheap perfume mixed with alcohol on Killian. Heâd been drinking and probably sleeping around again. A true pirate.
âNone of your business, lassieâ He growled back as he made his way on board the ship, his walk was slightly swaying. Internally you sighted while you wanted to yell at him to get a grip. This wasnât him! This wasnât the man you grow up with, the man you fell in love years ago. That man had been kind, curious and only slightly daring. But the new captain of the Jolly Rodgers was different, he was a pirate through and through.
âJust askingâ You shrugged only barely covering the hurt. It had been a not so recent development that he started talking down on you, his former fond âlassâ turned into a snide âlassie. Never before had it bothered him to have a woman on board his ship, you had sailed as an honest sailor under his brother and later under him. But apparently the navy had been more open minded about female sailors than a bloody pirate.
âI donât need your askingâ He growled annoyed for no reason âI donât need you to worry either. Iâm a grown man, a pirate. I donât need a bloody babysitter back on my ship looking at me all disapproving.â His voice had gotten more and more of an edge as his annoyance transformed more and more into anger. With more swaying steps he came up closer to you, so you could smell the rum in his breath, as he pocked his index finger harshly into your chest, âActually, I donât need you at all.â
âSo donât blame Rumple.â You finished your angry hissing, not even taken aback by his obvious surprise. His eyes were open a fraction wider than normal while his mouth stood open as to protest but no words came out.
âYou didnât want me, Killian Jones.â
âItâs captain Hook now â Thanks to the bloody crocodile.â
âYou donât need a bloody babysitter, remember?â Your face twisted at the memory of his harsh words âI donât care anymore.â
â(Y/n)âŚâ His eyes widened even more, shock and hurt written all over his face. The man you had loved for so long stood in front of you, all broken and devastated. And while it broke your heart you were only all too aware how he came in threatening the one friend you had made and kept in all your life. Everyone else had either died like Liam or told you they didnât want you like Killian.
âDonât botherâ You whispered, voice filled with painful emotion âIâm done being still in love with you after all those years, you bloody bastard.â
