White gold, made of recycled metal, with a mobius twist. Himself wears a rose gold one, slightly wider. They were the big splurge for the wedding, but worth it. We love them. He wears his with the twist to the inside, and I tend to wear mine with the twist to the outside.
The cure for anything is salt water - sweat, tears, the sea. -Karen Blixen
35. Relationship between you and the last person you texted?
She’s my best friend, and that’s putting it mildly. When I was eleven, my form tutor sat me next to this tall, red-haired girl who had the same first name as me, and we became best friends. We’ve been friends now for over 15 years. I was bridesmaid at her wedding, and she was at mine. She’s just had her first child, and I was her second birth partner. I got to watch her son come into the world, which I count as an incredible honour. I am blessed to have some really great friends, and even more so to have an amazing husband who I love to bits, but friend doesn’t come close to describing my relationship with her. She’s family, in the chosen sense, and one of the closest people to my heart. She bears a piece of my soul, and I am constantly in awe of how amazing she is. She’s the moon in my sky, and I see partially by her light. I love her completely.
I think it’s telling that my first thoughts sprang not to cake, chocolate, pudding, but the comforting savoury dishes I love. Boston Baked Beans with roast vegetables, Spaghetti Bolognese, freshly baked bread still warm, crumpets dripping with butter. French toast. Peaches. Peanut butter. Kisses from the lips of those I adore.
