Finally I saw the blooming giant corpse flower at Bogor Botanical Gardens.

Amorphophallus titanum is also known as Titan Arum or giant corpse flower or THE LEGENDARY bunga bangkai raksasa.
Titan Arum is endemic to rainforests of Sumatra; one of the biggest island in the Indonesian Archipelago that consists of over 17,500 islands. International Union for Conservation Nature (IUCN) has classified Titan Arum as Endangered and protected species.
The bloom is coming: Amorphophallus titanum (Becc.) at Bogor Botanical Gardens
Bogor Botanical Garden has 9 types of corpse flowers that were planted in 1992 and Titan Arum is one of them. Their existences is not the only rare aspect about the corpse flowers, but also their irregular blooming phase—even the researches are still observing and studying the patterns. So, when the blooming phase comes, it becomes very important to not only biodiversity enthusiasts, but also the general public.
The last time this Titan Arum bloomed was 2014. So when the giant corpse flower was finally expected to fully bloom in February 3rd 2026 after entering the initial phase in January 25th 2026, it instantly became a huge news for everyone and me included.
Since I live in Bogor myself, so I decided to visit Bogor Botanical Gardens to see the legendary giant corpse flower with my own eyes on Saturday, February 7th 2026.

After the raining in the morning and a long queue, I in the end could witness the legendary flower that I only saw on the media and learned throughout my school days. Even though it wasn’t fully blooming, but I was deeply moved that I was given the chance to see it myself. This is definitely one of historical moments in my life.
