Hellooooo welcome back... Another little ask archive, this time for Walrinian and Osteon info. I was gonna do a post for asks about any and all species in the show so far, but these two have much more questions asked about them than any other ones, so if you're looking for info on like Tyneen's species or Killix's species or something check out the character asks! (This post is still going to be much shorter than my previous ones though, lol)

Walrinians

- Walrinians are based off of walruses. (source)

- Walrinians have webbed hands and feet. (source 1) (source 2)

- Walrinians don’t sleep much, but when they do, they sleep for two weeks. (source 1) (source 2)

- “Males tend to swell in size when they hit their limit, so to speak. I wouldn't really call it a transformation, more a heightened state of anger.” (source)

- Walrinians are omnivores, but typically prefer meat. (source)

- Female Walrinians can grow beards. (source)

- About Walrinian houses: “Each one is lead by an impressive male to guards his harem of ladies. Bigger the tusks and general bulk the more impressive and important~” (source)

- Walrinian harems “tend to stick with their own species.” (source)

- When asked if Beebs brushing his shoulder at Ajax was “ the Walrinian equivalent to politely flipping someone off:” “Pretty much. Having a Young'n deliberately disobey the directions of a much more powerful male added to the insult.” (source)

As a bonus, I went through all the episodes so far to see if I could find more examples of each character's species. Interestingly, though I could find at least one more example of most main/secondary characters species from background characters (excluding Shrike, Disco Head, and Agent K obv), Beebs and Ajax are the only Walrinians we've seen so far.

Osteons

- Osteons are skeletons. (source)

- When asked “how would an Osteon get injured if they're only bone:” “Their flame could completely go out.” (source)

- Osteon’s eat “to fuel their inner soul flame every now and then.” (source)

- Osteons can dye the colour of their soul flame. (source)

- Osteons can style their flame with a special gel. (source)

- Their soul flames are hot and can burn. (source)

- Instead of showering, Osteons “bleach themselves under the light of a star.” (source)

- When asked if Osteons can cross with other species: “Only their BONES (if they have any.)” (source)

- When asked, "are Osteons a common species to become plague walkers or is it just JB and his gang:" "Flesh rarely survives contact with what lurks inside the Q.Z." (source)

I think out of each main/secondary character's species, we've seen the most Osteons so far? (I mean, excluding Lythops I guess, but... y'know....) I wonder if there's an in-universe reason for this? Maybe it's by technicality, since Jaw Bone's gang HAS to be skeletons. Idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i think max illa is a really cute name, and it’s also the word for an upper jaw!! which is SO perfect for JB omg??? so max :33

she probably would’ve had pink accents before becoming a plague walker but since touchin her bony hands into the QZ she’s now green like da rest of them

fun detail too: her horns would be apart of her flame design,,, cause i say so 🤞i like to think she still has her wings but they’re like wacky sharp QZ wings now
