Paint My Love [Soulmate AU]
Osomatsu always thought he was colourblind, the world is so gray and dull. There was never a single colour out there. Others could see them, but he couldnât. However, he wasnât alone. His brothers couldnât see it too. All six of them thought they were just born without the ability to see anything in colour. It made life so boring, especially for the eldest himself. He couldnât enjoy colouring as a child, cartoons werenât as fun. No matter how much fun he had with his siblings, the colourless life was just so annoying.
His parents could see it, they always describe it to them. Their mother had given them colour coded clothing, which was funny because none of them could tell the difference. Their mother had to be the one to tell them whoâs own is whoâs. Theyâd often be wearing someone elseâs clothes. However they all learned to tell the shades apart, at least the shades of gray.
They all wanted to see colours so desperately but they knew it wouldnât be possible. They knew why. That reason was because they havenât found their soulmate. Their true soulmate. They all thought the girl they grew up with was the one but they found out quickly that she wasnât. She could never bring colour to their life, despite them all loving her. She wasnât the one for them and they were heartbroken about it.
Day in and day out, they all waited. Soon they stopped caring and gave up. They had their parents tell them colours that they canât recognize. They werenât alone in this colourless society. Others had this too, which was kind of comforting. Some of the brothers had friends who could see them since they found their soulmate. Well only two of the brothers had friends like that. Majority of them didnât.
Osomatsu just learned to accept this boring, gray life when he got older. He had given up on finding the one. Given up on waiting. However, he didnât realize that heâd bound to find the person who will bring that colourful life to him.
As he was walking down the street, heading his way to meet his âgirlfriendsâ, he had bumped into someone. He blinked when that sudden flash of colour came to him.
âWhat the..â He rubbed his eyes then he looked around. Desperately, he grabbed onto anyone that had been around him. He apologized when there was nothing then there was one girl left. He rushed over to her âOi!â He reached out and grabbed her wrist. It was then, he saw everything in full colour. Nothing was white, black, and gray anymore. Everyone and everything was in colour. He looked down, his jacket wasnât a dark shade of gray, no it was red, just as how his mother told him.
He looked up at the girl, squeezing her wrist, not wanting her to yank her hand away. No he wanted to savior this moment. Who knows when heâll ever have this moment again. Who knows when heâll ever meet her again. He wanted to keep her here, he wanted his hand to hold her, just so the colours can stay longer. Heâs never met her before yet here she was, standing before him, bringing colour to his life. His throat felt dry and so did his lips. He had given up on waiting and looking yet here he was. He was standing right in front of the girl who was his soulmate.
He gulped, trying to get the words from his brain and to his mouth. He needed to ask her name, he wanted to know who she was. He wanted to remember her name. It wasnât just that, he wanted to also remember the colour of her hair, her eyes, her lips, her skin, and her clothes. He wanted to remember this very moment; this breath taking moment â..Y-Your name.. Whatâs your name..? Please tell me your name.â
Kajika had been brought up in a world consisting of shades of gray, not knowing that it could be different until much later in life. It couldnât be helped that she had not known however, her mother dying when she was but a child and her father not talking overly much about it, contributing to her lack of knowledge. There was of course the fact that she had grown up on an island with very few human inhabitants.
Even if she had not known, she had felt that something was amiss and she began to suspect that it might be the lack of colour when she did finally learn that such a thing was possible. There was no way to know for sure though, at least not until she experienced it for herself and there was no telling when that would ever happen. It seemed like it was a rare thing, to find oneâs soulmate, rather than it being the norm.
Then one day things changed...
She had been walking down the street, her mind elsewhere as she daydreamed of sandy shores and rolling waves, when suddenly everything changed. Kajika had stopped dead in her tracks, eyes scanning her surroundings as she tried to determine what exactly it was she had seen and how she could catch a glimpse of it again.
Then her wrist was grabbed and her world exploded in colour - glorious, marvellous colour. What a sight it was to behold and it nearly reduced her to tears. Tearing her gaze from the beauty around her, she fixed her silver eyes on the man who had made this moment possible and brought colour into her dull mundane life. Truth be told, she didnât think she could ever go back... not after experiencing this...
Gently she reached out to capture the manâs hand that wasnât around her wrist and entangled their fingers, a silent affirmation that she wasnât going anywhere. Her face lit up with a gentle smile as she looked at him, gratitude for the gift of colour he had bestowed upon her shining softly from her eyes.
