Just found out someone came up with the ship name "S'mores" for Osixia (Oswald x Ortensia x Felix) and holy fuck this changed EVERYTHING
I wanna know more of ur dynamics w poly Oswald, Felix, and Ortensia cause i rlly love ur works 🤑🤑
And maybe how u characterize/write Flip too
1st: holy fuck thanks. I absolutely LOVE your work and I remember when I saw your osixia posts you made all the way back when I was still trying to gain a footing on here I geeked the fuck out because at the time I was absolutely OBSESSED with the ship. Since then I've kinda waned, but... eh? All my hyper fixations tend to go into recessions and randomly spring back up, it just takes time. In any case I remember my one true attempt to make something osixia related flopped for uhhh...
Reasons...
2nd: My idea for the three changes depending on the AU and if I want angst or fluff, or whatever. However generally I imagined Felix and Oswald fell in love first, but just couldn't be together. During the EXTREMELY prejudice times of the 1930s~ neither would even consider the possibility of a man dating another man. Not because of the homophobia and stigma, but the general cultural idea of "man marries women" made them oblivious to the idea that there could be something else. Dressing in drag was normal for the two and being overly affectionate to one and another was just how they were, that's how their "friendship" was. Ortensia coming into the picture shook things up though as they BOTH fell head over heels for her. Childish fighting happened where they both tried to one up each other to impress her, but Oswald ultimately won and because they were from the same company it also only made sense. Felix surprisingly wasn't bummed at all and with no reason to fight anymore he went back to being overly affectionate to Oswald, and because Ortensia was nothing more than his "friend", he was also overly affectionate to her. I think more than anything they were sorta always a poly relationship, like Oswald and Ortensia got married, had kids, all that, yeah. But Felix was always there and his "affectionate" was 100% romantic, he just didn't know it and neither did Oswald. Ortensia was really the only smart one to be able to stop, take a step back and realize "oh these bitches gay" Yet she never said anything and was happy to have their odd relationship because she sorta did like Felix too. Oswald and Felix eventually realize how strange their "friendship" is, but brush it off and just go "guess we're a trio".
When it comes to how their relationship actually works though once they realize they're all a thing, it's definitely complicated. For starters Oswald and Ortensia are married but they call Felix their husband which causes a LOT of confusion with their friends. While Oswald is like "ohhh yeah... Long story-" Ortensia is the one to usually cut him off and go "yes, Felix is OUR husband, you got a problem with that?". She's aware the stigma around poly relationships and she is NOT looking to explain or argue. They don't wanna hide their relationship either and are very open about it, PDA is a big thing with them. This also does cause a bit of complication because of the kids. The bunnies call Oswald "Papa" while they call Felix the more direct "dad" or "daddy", while some think nothing of it others are more curious and ask Felix why they call him dad and more importantly: why does he kiss their mom and actual dad on the lips. Felix has no explanation and sorta just has to find way to change subject since he's uncomfortable explaining, Ortensia doesn't explain when asked either and just says "that's how it's always been", while Oswald is the only one who gives any sort of answer with his being "Because I love him".
(I feel like this reply is getting too long and I haven't even done the second question so I'm just gonna speed blitz through some HCs and stuff I've had for the two, my deepest apologies).
—All three work but all set schedules so they can still spend time together and make sure there's always 2 people at the house to take care of the kids.
—They like to cuddle in one of two ways, the first being spooning with Oswald in the middle, and the second being just curled up together in a sort of pile with them laying on top of each other.
—Felix is more flirty in his love, Oswald is more physical in his love, and Ortensia is more materialistic in her love. Felix says cheesy and corny romantic lines, Oswald will hug unannounced, and Ortensia showers her husband's in gifts.
—While Ortensia's dad doesn't like Oswald, he absolutely LOVES Felix. J.P. doesn't even consider Oswald her husband and whenever he visits to see the kids he only refers to Felix as her husband despite Oswald being like right there.
—Oswald and Felix's typical date night involve going out on the town and causing chaos because they're both old and wanna feel young. Ortensia usually has to bail them out.
—Oswald and Ortensia's typical date night involve going out usually, but it's more to typical places. See a movie, go out to eat, etc. They'll occasionally take the kids but they sorta just throw them onto Felix and let him suffer alone for a few hours.
—Felix and Ortensia's typical date night usually involves the kids. Felix is more of a family man and he's content taking them all out to do something like going to the park and playing with them. That or just helping around the house as he's fond of nuzzling her whilst the two do stuff like do laundry or cook.
—The three of them don't really get to do a date night because of the kids, but if they did then they would stay at home and watch a movie together on the couch. Each other's presence is enough and they don't really need an external factor to have fun.
—Felix and Ortensia drink, Oswald does not (anymore at least). So any events or parties where there's alcohol he has to be the one to babysit both of them as Felix gets drunk after only a few drinks and Ortensia downs so much in such a short amount of time she's usually wasted about the same time Felix is. While Felix is more than anything a danger to himself while drunk, that usual logic and reason Ortensia has is NOT there and she's more quick to let her emotions get the better of her.
—Arguments are few and far between, there is never any arguments relating to all 3, however there is spats between two and whoever is the third one not in that specific argument is the mediator and messenger for the other two.
—They all sleep in 3 separate beds, but they push them together so it's one big bed they share that they can split anytime they don't wanna sleep together.
Okay with that outta the way: Flip is a character who I've known about, but never really had any true interest in. While I watched his cartoons when I first go into toons, I never really revisited them the same way I did with Felix's and Oswald's cartoons (Guess which characters are my favorite lol). This ask gave me motivation to rewatch them and I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed them (minus the racism ofc but that's what you gotta deal with when watching classic cartoons). I like to imagine flip as being really close with Mickey. This is sorta a meta thing but because of how the family tree works with Mickey actually being drawn by Ub Iwerks, Flip and Mickey are direct brothers while Oswald is both their half brother due to Walt's involvement in his creation. This does sorta make a disconnect between Flip and Julius because Julius is on the complete end of the spectrum being a Walt thing. He's only truly related to Oswald however due to Walt taking credit for Mickey he nonetheless considers Mickey his brother and the likewise is seen by Mick himself. Julius isn't on bad terms with Flip at all, it's just the sheer gap in when they were made combined with them being in an awkward situation meta-creation wise that prevents them from properly being acquainted. As for flip himself, I imagine him being the most reserved of the 4. He definitely has his issues but while Oswald and Mickey changed, Flip shares some similarity with Julius in the way I imagine he never did. Flip seems like he was always good at masking his less savory traits and while definitely able to get angry and be rude, he seems to be a lot more mannered. If I were to write him he'd probably be very polite and let his actions speak louder than his words. He's not quiet but any means, it's just he prefers to actually do things as compared to Oswald and Mickey who are big fans of talking with their actions sometimes being less than what they say.
Also while I'm at it, random flip HC: he's able to do that weird thing frogs can do where they puff out their throat and croak. Everyone around him is EXTREMELY uncomfortable when he does it and are freaked out, but he still does it because he finds it hilarious to see their faces. Also sometimes when annoyed he can't help himself and it just happens abruptly.
